Omzet usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah umumnya menurun akibat pandemi Covid 19. Brongkol Craft, kelompok usaha produk craft di Kecamatan Jambu, Ambarawa, Kabupaten Semarang yang berdiri pada masa pandemi ikut terdampak dan sulit berkompetisi dengan produk makanan maupun obat-obatan yang memang sangat dibutuhkan konsumen.

Dra. Widowati, M.Pd. dosen Pendidikan Busana ketua tim pengabdian UNNES bersama Prof. Dr. Ir. Amin Retnoningsih M.Si. dosen Biologi, Dr. Amin Pujiati S.E. M.Si. dosen Ekonomi Pembangunan, dan tiga mahasiswa melakukan kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan pengembangan ecoprint dan produk turunannya untuk membantu meningkatkan kualitas produksi, pemasaran, dan sumber daya  kelompok usaha tersebut.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini merupakan hibah yang dimenangi tim tahun 2022 pada skema Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi, Riset, dan Teknologi, c.q. Direktorat Riset, Teknologi, dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (DRTPM). Skema ini menfasilitasi para dosen dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat secara terprogram dan berkelanjutan. Hasil kegiatan pada Brongkol Craft ini diharapkan mitra sasaran mampu memanfaatkan sumberdaya tumbuhan di sekitarnya menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi dan pemasarannya makin berkembang, sehingga akhirnya omzet meningkat.

Bahan utama produk ecoprint berupa daun, ranting, bunga dan bagian yang lain dari berbagai jenis tanaman budidaya (limbah pertanian), tumbuhan liar, dan gulma.  Produk fungsional dari ecoprint seperti totebag dan produk lainnya telah dipasarkan melalui RUMAH INOVASI UNNES yang berada di Gedung Prof. Dr. Retno Sriningsih, LP2M UNNES. Produk ini menarik perhatian dan makin dikenal masyarakat maupun tamu dari perguruan tinggi, sekolah, kementerian dan lembaga lain. Produk ecoprint Brongkol Craft melengkapi dan menambah varian produk berbasis limbah tanaman yang sebelumnya telah dikembangkan Brongkol Craft.

Pemanfaatan limbah pertanian dan tumbuhan pengganggu mengubah mindset pengelola usaha ini bahwa limbah sekalipun dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku produk yang menarik dan bernilai ekonomi, dan menurunkan potensi pencemaran lingkungan. Varian produk yang makin meningkat dan makin menarik diharapkan meningkatkan minat konsumen.  Produk fungsional berbasis ecoprint yang lain juga dikembangkan, seperti sarung bantal kursi dan taplak meja.

Proses produksi Brongkol Craft berbasis pemanfaatan limbah pertanian dan pemanfaatan tanaman liar serta gulma diharapkan berkelanjutan dan berkembang menjadi usaha lebih besar. Pemasaran offline maupun online diharapkan makin meluas sehingga omzet Brongkol Craft dan kesejahteraan masyarakat khususnya di Desa Brongkol makin meningkat.
