Tim GREEFY yang mewakili APEC region Indonesia, merupakan tim gabungan dari mahasiswa dari Prodi Teknik Kimia, Ilmu Lingkungan, Pendidikan IPA, dan Ilmu Komputer Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), berhasil lolos dalam ajang internasional 2021 APEC-ACABT YES Challenge: Green Synergy Solutions for Green Energy, An Education Platform for STI to SMEs yang diselenggarakan oleh APEC Research Center for Advanced Biohydrogen Technology (ACABT), dan Feng Chia University Taiwan sebagai tuan rumah. Dalam Final Pitch secara daring yang diselenggarakan pada Jumat (24/12), tim GREEFY mempresentasikan ide gagasannya yang berjudul Tofu Industry to Circular Economy System: An Optimization of Tofu Industrial Waste Treatment via Integrated Process and Quality Control dan berhasil meraih Juara 3.

Setiap tahunnya, APEC Research Center for Advanced Biohydrogen Technology (APEC-ACABT) mengundang tim wirausaha muda di seluruh Ekonomi APEC untuk bergabung dengan APEC YES Challenge, yang mana pada tahun 2021 ini mengangkat tema Solusi Sinergi Hijau untuk Energi Hijau. Kegiatan ini selain merupakan kompetisi proposal proyek berbasis energi dan isu lingkungan, juga bertujuan mengatasi perubahan iklim dan masalah komunitas, dan mempromosikan kesadaran keberlanjutan.

Kompetisi ini berlangsung selama kurang lebih dua bulan, diawali dengan Preliminary Round pada bulan Oktober, yang mana tim GREEFY berhasil lolos ke babak Semi-pitch Round pada bulan November yang diikuti hanya 20 tim. Tim GREEFY kemudian berhasil masuk ke dalam 10 besar finalis yang termasuk dalam Ekonomi APEC yaitu dari Indonesia, Rusia, Jepang, Thailand, Filipina, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mongolia, dan Vietnam yang berhak mengikuti Online Final Pitch pada bulan Desember.

Acara puncak kompetisi ini dilakukan pengujian ide oleh beberapa juri dari kalangan akademisi, ilmuwan, praktisi, serta beberapa calon investor. Ide dari tim GREEFY mengangkat permasalahan dalam pengolahan limbah pabrik tahu yang masih dilakukan dengan sederhana dan belum komprehensif menerapkan konsep bio circular green (BCG) economy. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah optimasi pengolahan limbah tahu yang digabung dengan teknologi komprehensif untuk menghasilkan multiproduk yang dapat dimanfaatkan secara berkesinambungan untuk pabrik tahu itu sendiri dan masyarakat sekitar. Tim GREEFY menyampaikan ide gagasannya dengan sangat efektif dan mampu menjawab pertanyaan dari juri dengan baik dan lancar.

Tim GREEFY terdiri dari beberapa mahasiswa di bawah bimbingan mentor Fidia Fibriana MSc dan Dr Rifa’ Atunnisa dari Jurusan IPA Terpadu FMIPA dan Dhoni Hartanto ST MT MSc Dosen Jurusan Teknik Kimia FT. Adapun nama-nama mahasiswa yaitu Gema Aditya Mahendra (Teknik Kimia FT), Habil Sultan (Ilmu Lingkungan FMIPA), Bella Setia Ginanti (Ilmu Lingkungan FMIPA), Naily Zahrotun Arifah (Pendidikan IPA FMIPA), dan Yusuf Muhammad (Ilmu Komputer FMIPA).

Dekan Fakultas Teknik (FT) Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM. menyampaikan, capaian prestasi mahasiswa di tingkat internasional merupakan program unggulan di bidang kemahasiswaan dan meskipun pandemi turut berdampak pada dunia pendidikan, mahasiswa seharusnya tetap harus bersemangat dan kini terbukti salah satu mahasiswa FT mampu mengharumkan nama bangsa di kancah internasional.
