Direktorat Kemahasiswaan, Direktorat Jenderal Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan, Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi kembali menyelenggarakan Kontes Robot Indonesia (KRI) 2018 sebagai ajang kompetisi rancang bangun dan rekayasa dalam bidang robotika. KRI 2018 terdiri dari 5 (lima) divisi, yaitu: 1. Kontes Robot ABU Indonesia (KRAI); 2. Kontes Robot Pemadam Api Indonesia (KRPAI); 3. Kontes Robot Seni Tari Indonesia (KRSTI); 4. Kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia (KRSBI) Humanoid; dan 5. Kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia (KRSBI) Beroda.

Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS) menjadi tuan rumah KRI Regional 3, Senin-Rabu (16-18/4) di Balairung UPGRIS. Peserta Regional 3 meliputi area Jawa bagian tengah, kalimantan bagian timur dan selatan. Mempertandingkan 74 Robot dalam 4 Kategori.

KRAI pada kontes ini tedapat dua robot yang bekerja sama untuk melempar bola melalui ring untuk mencapai “Rong Bay.” KRPAI suatu robot dengan penggerak kaki bekerja di simulasi rumah dengan misi menemukan dan memadamkan api lilin. KRSTI robot menari dengan diiringi musik memperlihatkan gerakan wajib sesuai dengan tema “Robot Penari Remo”. KRSBI kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia Beroda dengan tema “Sepak Bola Robot Menuju Liga Sepakbola Robot Tahun 2050.” Regional 3 diikuti 339 peserta dari 28 perguruan tinggi pada regional 3.

KRI 2018 dilaksanakan bekerja sama dengan Perguruan Tinggi yang ditunjuk untuk menyelenggarakan Kontes Tingkat Regional dan Kontes Tingkat Nasional. Kontes Tingkat Regional akan diselenggarakan pada 4 (empat) wilayah Regional, yaitu: Regional 1 (area Sumatera), Regional 2 (area Jawa bagian barat, Kalimantan bagian barat, dan Sulawesi), Regional 3 (area Jawa bagian tengah, kalimantan bagian timur dan selatan), dan Regional 4 (area Jawa bagian timur, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku dan Papua).

Tim terbaik pada Kontes Tingkat Regional akan diundang untuk ikut serta dalam Kontes Tingkat Nasional di Jogjakarta. Juara pertama KRAI Tingkat Nasional 2018 akan menjadi wakil Indonesia pada ABU Robocon 2018 di Ninh Binh, Vietnam. Juara pertama KRPAI Tingkat Nasional 2018 akan menjadi wakil Indonesia pada Trinity College International Robot Contest 2019 di Hartford, Connecticut, Amerika Serikat. Juara pertama KRSBI Humanoid Tingkat Nasional 2018 akan menjadi wakil Indonesia pada ROBOCUP 2019.  Untuk KRSTI dan KRSBI Beroda belum diatur afiliasi-nya.Untuk dapat mengikuti KRI 2018, setiap tim calon peserta mengajukan proposal yang ditujukan ke Panitia Pusat KRI 2018 dengan persetujuan Pimpinan Perguruan Tinggi masing-masing. Persyaratan tim, mekanisme pengajuan proposal dan form pendaftaran dapat dilihat pada Panduan KRI 2018.
