Hong Kong, July 21, 2026 – The Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) of Semarang State University (UNNES) strengthened its international network through its participation in The Hong Kong-Indonesia Connect: Dialogue in Education forum, held on July 20–21, 2026, at the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.

The FIPP UNNES Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Lecturer Research Team was represented by Moh. Farizqo Irvan, M.Pd., as the research leader, with team members Dr. Nugraheti Sismulyasih SB, M.Pd., Drs. Sigit Yulianto, M.Pd., and Arif Widagdo, M.Pd.

This activity is part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of research. Furthermore, this forum marks a strategic step for FIPP UNNES to expand international collaboration in education and research with world-renowned universities. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is known to be among the top 50 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings, so this collaboration is expected to improve the quality of research and international publications by FIPP UNNES lecturers.

This collaboration also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals.

The series of activities began with remarks and an introduction to the College of Professional and Continuing Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, by Prof. Peter P. Yuen, Dean of CPCE. Participants then took a campus tour to see various academic facilities and research results developed by CPCE lecturers.

On the second day, the event continued with a research collaboration discussion forum moderated by Dr. Edward Wen. Moh. Farizqo Irvan presented his ongoing research project, “Reading for Pleasure” for elementary school students.

The presentation received a positive response from Dr. Esther Tong, Principal Lecturer and Head of the Division of Language and Communication at CPCE. She provided various input regarding research development and opened up opportunities for follow-up collaboration through online discussions. This collaboration is expected to result in joint research that can be published in reputable international journals.

Through this forum, FIPP UNNES demonstrated its commitment to continuously improving the quality of research and expanding its global academic network to support the development of elementary education in Indonesia.
