The Primary School Teacher Education Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) is committed to producing students who excel academically and morally, and who can actively contribute to positive changes in a challenging global era. To face this dynamic age, PGSD students at FIPP UNNES are equipped with general courses like Pancasila and Civic Education, which serve as the main foundation for character-building and patriotism. Additionally, the importance of character education is reinforced through religious courses, including Islamic Education, which are designed to strengthen religious principles and preserve Islamic culture amid globalization. With this, students are expected to maintain Islamic unity and contribute to creating a harmonious and dignified society.
In recognition of the importance of fostering unity and building a dignified generation, the UNNES Modern Rebana Student Activity Unit, PGSD branch, organized the event “PGSD Bersholawat 2024.” This event was held to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW and National Heroes’ Day. The aim of this activity was to enhance the love for Prophet Muhammad SAW while also fostering patriotism and unity among Indonesians. Through sholawat (chants of praise), it is hoped that students and the community can prepare for the changes of the times with strong faith, devotion, nationalism, and love for their homeland. This event aims to strengthen the bond between the PGSD FIPP UNNES academic community and the general public, while also commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW and National Heroes’ Day. It serves as a tangible example of how nationalism and religious fervor can coexist harmoniously, creating a high-minded and harmonious society.
The event came alive with the recitation of Maulid Simtudhuror, led by Habib Hamid bin Sholeh Baagil along with the UNNES Remo Student Activity Unit. The chants of sholawat echoed across the PGSD UNNES field, inviting the congregation to join in the sholawat and internalize the meaning of each lyric sung. The beauty and serenity of the sholawat created a solemn and heartfelt atmosphere that touched everyone present.
As a form of support and appreciation, the vice dean, program coordinators, and community leaders attended to deliver speeches that bolstered spiritual and communal spirit. They expressed their hope that events like PGSD Bersholawat will continue to be a tradition that strengthens religious values within the academic environment.
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
The highlight of the event was a sermon (mauidhohasanah) delivered by Habib Umar Al-Muthohar. In his lecture, he conveyed the message, “What we can emulate from the Prophet Muhammad are his morals and his guidance on what should and should not be done as conveyed in his hadiths. Emulating the Prophet’s physical appearance is neither commanded nor encouraged because it’s impossible. Although the Prophet was said to be more handsome than Prophet Yusuf, no verse praises his physical beauty. Instead, his outstanding character is highlighted. May we all be able to emulate the morals of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.”
The PGSD Bersholawat 2024 event concluded with mahalul qiyam led by Habib Hamid bin Sholeh Baagil, accompanied by the UNNES Remo Student Activity Unit. A solemn and reverent atmosphere enveloped the gathering, ending the event with a communal prayer. All committee members, students, and participants then worked together to clean the venue, embodying a spirit of unity and shared responsibility.
PGSD Bersholawat 2024 was not only a religious celebration but also a significant moment to strengthen spiritual bonds and togetherness within the UNNES academic community. With the success of this event, UNNES reaffirms its dedication to fostering a holistic and cultured academic environment. The event inspires the entire academic community and society to continue reciting sholawat, building dignified character, and making positive contributions to others by upholding strong religious values.
