Bangkok, Thailand – The Non-Formal Education Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) conducted a work visit to the Department of Lifelong Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, from October 23-27, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between the two institutions through a visiting professor program and the development of a sister curriculum.
The delegation from UNNES’s Non-Formal Education Program included Dr. Mintarsih Arbarini as the Program Coordinator, Dr. Tri Suminar, M.Pd., Hendra Dedi K, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dra. Liliek Desmawati, M.Pd., and Allfine Loretha, S.Pd., M.Pd. They received a warm welcome from Prof. Wirathep Pathumcharoenwattana, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Lifelong Education, as well as distinguished academics including Assoc. Prof. Worarat Pathumcharoenwattana, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Suwithida Charungkiatikul, Ph.D., Asst. Prof. Manaswas Kovitaya, Ph.D., Asst. Prof. Ravee Chudasring, Ph.D., and Dr. Kotchaworn Chuymanee, Ph.D.
A key agenda during this visit was a guest lecture led by Dr. Tri Suminar, M.Pd. In the lecture, Dr. Tri discussed current issues and best practices in Non-Formal Education in Indonesia, as well as the importance of lifelong education in a global context. This activity was intended to inspire faculty and students at Chulalongkorn University to implement new approaches in their teaching.
The visit included a series of discussion meetings, workshops, and scientific presentations, addressing Non-Formal Education curriculum areas relevant to the development of lifelong education in Southeast Asia. The visit aimed to enhance research collaboration and program development in education, as well as to share experiences and best practices in curriculum management.
“This program is a strategic step to strengthen international networks and improve the quality of non-formal education in Indonesia. We welcome this collaboration and believe that knowledge exchange between UNNES and Chulalongkorn University will benefit both institutions,” said Dr. Mintarsih Arbarini.
This visit is expected to foster synergy between formal and non-formal education and strengthen the commitment of both parties to advancing sustainable and inclusive quality education.
