Dalami Batik, Mahasiswa Asing Unnes ke Solo

Khaterine Julia, tampak antusias kala menjejakkan kakinya di Museum Batik Danarhadi Solo, Minggu (17/11). Sambil bertanya-tanya seputar proses pembuatan batik, perempuan berambut pirang itu mengambil beberapa gambar motif batik Indonesia.

Perempuan berkebangsaan Inggris itu tak datang sendiri. Ia datang bersama 11 mahasiswa asing yang ikut serta dalam kuliah lapangan Batik di Solo. Dua belas mahasiswa asing tersebut berasal dari Inggris, Amerika, Jepang, China, Italia, Hungaria, Afganistan, Thailand, Vietnam, dan Lithuania.

Hal senada juga dirasakan Wu Manli, mahasiswa dari China. Senyum manis seakan tak lepas dari bibirnya kala mengitari setiap bagian Museum Batik Danarhadi. “Dulu saya tidak suka batik, tapi sekarang saya suka batik”, ujarnya dengan bahasa Indonesia terpatah-patah. Menurutnya, Kota Solo memiliki kekayaan budaya yang menarik untuk dipelajari khususnya batik. ”Saya nanti ingin belajar membatik,” ucapnya.

Dosen pendamping kuliah batik, Dr. Ir. Rodia Syamwil, M.Pd., mengatakan kedua belas mahasiswa tersebut ialah mahasiswa program Darmasiswa yang mengikuti matakuliah batik, mereka akan belajar batik di Unnes selama satu tahun ke depan.

Dipaparkannya, program kuliah lapangan tersebut dilaksanakan dengan tujuan agar mahasiswa asing lebih mencintai dan lebih tahu tentang Batik Indonesia. Selain berkunjung ke Museum Batik, mereka juga mengunjungi pusat industri Batik yang berada di Kampung Laweyan, Solo. Selain itu, mereka juga berkunjung ke pasar Klewer solo untuk melihat secara langsung pemasaran batik.

Sementara itu, Badrus Siroj, M.Pd, pengelola Program Darmasiswa Unnes mengatakan Batik merupakan salah satu matakuliah yang paling diminati mahasiswa asing. “Sebagai gambaran, dari 21 mahasiswa asing yang mengikuti program Darmasiswa di Unnes, 15 di antaranya memilih batik sebagai matakuliah keahlian mereka. Bahkan tahun ini Fukuda AI (Jepang) alumni mahasiswa Darmasiswa Unnes tahun 2012 sukses melaksanakan pameran Batik di negaranya.” ungkap Badrus.

Diharapkan dengan adanya praktik kuliah lapangan mahasiswa asing semakin mencintai budaya Indonesia khususnya batik.
