Budaya Daerah Jadi Penentu Stabilitas Nasional

Kebudayaan yang terdapat pada masing-masing daerah di Indonesia adalah pilar yang kuat untuk menumbuhkan rasa nasionalisme. Bila budaya daerah rapuh, stabilitas nasional pun menjadi lemah.

“Upaya pertama yang harus dilakukan untuk menegakkan hal itu adalah berusaha untuk melakukan kaderisasi terhadap bahasa daerah sebagai wadah kebudayaan,” ujar Kepala Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jawa Tengah Drs Pardi Suratno MHum, dalam Konferensi Internasional Budaya Daerah III di Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo, Sabtu (7/12).

Menurut Pardi, pemerintah selama ini tidak punya arah pembangunan kebudayaan yang jelas. “Namun bukan saatnya lagi saling menyalahkan. Yang terpenting adalah sejauh mana kita mampu berperan dalam upaya pemertahanan kebudayaan itu,” ujarnya.

Pardi pun mencontohkan, di rumah anak bisa diajarkan berbahasa Jawa mulai dari menggunakan kata kerja yang sering digunakan, semisal “bapak sedang dhahar (makan)”, “ibu sedang tindak (pergi)”, “bapak sedang siram (mandi)”. “Bila anak telah mampu menyisipkan kata-kata kerja berbahasa Jawa dalam percakapan sehari-hari, ini adalah capaian yang luar biasa,” katanya.

Tidak jarang, dia mengatakan, keengganan untuk belajar bahasa daerah menimbulkan ketidakpahaman dan kesalahpahaman antar-penutur. “Tugas para pembelajar bahasa adalah bagaimana mengajarkan bahasa dan budaya daerah tanpa anak merasa terbebani,” katanya.

Konferensi yang berlangsung hingga Minggu (8/12) ini diikuti oleh ratusan peserta yang terdiri atas mahasiswa, guru, dosen bahasa dan budaya yang tergabung dalam Ikatan Dosen Budaya Daerah Indonesia, hingga para pemerhati.
