On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Asset and Business Optimization Agency, one of the work units at Semarang State University (UNNES), abbreviated as BOAB UNNES, held a healthy gymnastics activity in its work environment. The program, held routinely once a month, is very helpful for employees to get used to a healthy lifestyle during their busy work schedules. Each month, a different sub-unit under the auspices of BOAB hosts the gymnastics session.
This Friday morning, the gymnastics started at 07:00 WIB in the courtyard of the Health Service Center (Puslakes) sub-unit, featuring an experienced instructor. This time, the employees wore matching BOAB turmeric yellow shirts, and some brought gymnastic accessories such as small towels, tumblers, and more. The Chairman of BOAB, the BOAB Secretary, the Head of the Section, and the Sub-unit Manager were also present to add enthusiasm and inspiration for the employees.
The employees followed the gymnastic movements guided by the instructor, starting with muscle stretching and progressing to energetic movements focusing on strength, flexibility, and body fitness. The dynamic movements, accompanied by pop, dangdut, and even Koplo music, made everyone break a sweat.
The response from the employees to this program was very positive. They reported feeling more refreshed and energized after attending the gymnastics sessions, as well as experiencing long-term benefits in improving their health and quality of life.
According to the Chairman of BOAB, Dr. Moh. Solehatul Mustofa, M.A., the healthy gymnastics program is a form of the work unit’s commitment to implementing UNNES vision and mission related to conservation. “One of the things we want is to have a healthy life value and a social value, where employees know each other, understand each other, and form a sense of togetherness. This activity is essential for our institution, not only to advance the institution but also to advance together, in a healthy atmosphere,” he said with hope.
This healthy exercise program also serves to strengthen relationships between employees. As BOAB has many sub-units with various employee backgrounds, this activity helps employees get to know each other better. They can share experiences, exchange ideas, and help each other solve problems at work.
“I hope that in the future, many BOAB employees will be willing to participate and utilize gymnastics activities as a means of communication and coordination that does not have to be formal. For example, there may be problems in a work sub-unit that can be conveyed to the leadership during these sessions,” continued the UNNES BOAB Chairman.
With this healthy exercise program, the Chairman of UNNES BOAB hopes to create a healthier, happier, and more productive work environment for all employees. Additionally, sub-units are encouraged to continue developing other program initiatives aimed at advancing BOAB. He also advised that all levels within BOAB must participate in realizing the vision and mission of UNNES to become a University of World Reputation and a pioneer of educational brilliance with a conservation mindset.
