BOAB employees and the Cleaning Service planted jasmine (Jasminum sambac ait) and pucuk merah (Syzygium Paniculatum) which are a type of shrub that has distinctive characteristics in their leaves. This plant has red and green leaves. Its lush leaves and unique leaf color are suitable for use as home and garden decoration.

The diameter of the plant can reach 30 cm with a height of up to 7 meters. Plants can reach decades of age. Pucuk Merah is closely related to the air guava, laurel, juwet, darsono guava, guava, and many more because there are around 1,100 species of the genus Syzygium. The fruit is round and slightly flat. On the upper surface, the fruit is located in the middle. Fruit diameter ± 0.7 cm. The mature fruit is shiny black and tastes sweet with a distinctive aroma of fruit from the guava family. The flowers of pucuk merah plant are compound.

Pucuk merah has characteristics, including a single lanceolate leaf (double-edged tip), very short stem, shiny upper leaf surface, leaf size ± 6 cm long and ± 2 cm wide, leaf spines pinnate. The color of the leaves will change. When it just grows it is bright red, then turns brown, then changes again to green. What’s unique is that if you squeeze the leaves, they will emit a distinctive aroma.

This planting activity is included in one of the routine programs carried out by BOAB UNNES employees on Friday, May 17 2024 from 09.00 – 11.00 WIB. Pucuk merah plants are placed on the road leading to it UNNES Entrepreneurship Building. Aims to beautify the scenery around the UNNES Entrepreneurship Building. Apart from aesthetic reasons, red shoots have tap roots that can penetrate firmly into the ground to rehabilitate land, prevent landslides, and store water reserves.
