BEM FT UNNES Bantu Petani Teh Untuk Tingkatkan Produktivitas Teh di Dusun Gempol

Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) membantu meningkatkan produktivitas petani teh di Dusun Gempol. Dusun tersebut teletak di Desa Ngesrepbalong, Kecamatan Limbangan, Kabupaten Kendal, Provinsi Jawa Tengah.

Kegiatan pendampingan ini merupakan bagian dari Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa), yang digagas oleh Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek.

Ketua tim Bahrul Alam menyatakan, tujuan diselenggarakan pengabdian masyarakat ini di antaranya penerapan teknologi tepat guna berupa mesin pengolah teh multi phase.
Mesin tersebut untuk meningkatkan secara kualitas maupun kuantitas terkait produksi teh yang dihasilkan oleh petani.

“Tujuan lainnya dapat membentuk kelembagaan UMKM berbasis kelompok petani teh Dusun Gempol yang mandiri dan berdaya saing, serta menghasilkan produk inovasi teh melalui produksi dan pelabelan,” kata Bahrul.

Selain itu, pihaknya berharap kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat menjadikan produk-produk hasil UMKM dusun setempat dapat mempunyai citra yang baik, nilai jual dan daya saing yang tinggi.

“Kami melaksanakan transfer knowledge kepada masyarakat Dusun Gempol dengan praktik pengemasan dan pelabelan produk Daun Teh,” ujarnya.

Dia juga optimis, produk inovasi teh yang dikelola dengan baik, akan makin memperluas segmen pasar mereka.

Kepala Dusun Gempol, Mustakim berharap, program ini dapat menambah eksistensi produk inovasi teh dusun setempat.

Dusun Gempol memiliki potensi sumber daya alam yang melimpah, khususnya bergerak di bidang pertanian dan potensi wisata alami.

Dusun ini memiliki perkebunan teh rakyat seluas 25 hektare dengan ketinggian 524 hingga 1437 MDPL.

Pemandangan hutan pinus dan sungai yang membentang dari sisi selatan menuju utara di tengah Dusun Gempol semakin menambah kesan eksotisme alami di dusun ini.

Sementara itu, gerakan ekonomi dari petani teh Dusun Gempol dengan memanfaatkan hasil perkebunan.

Selain itu, terdapat juga beberapa potensi ekowisata yang terdapat di Desa Ngesrepbalong.

Salah satu produk unggulan dari sektor perkebunan yang berhasil dikelola oleh masyarakat Dusun Gempol, salah satunya daun Teh Sangrai.

Dusun ini dikenal sebagai produsen Teh Sangrai yang digemari masyarakat, karena rasa dan aromanya yang khas.

Sisi lain, salah satu kendala yang dihadapi petani teh di dusun setempat adalah prasarana pendukung yang masih sederhana.

Petani teh di dusun itu masih menggunakan wajan besi dan tungku dari batu selama 10 tahun.

Penggunaan prasarana yang terbilang sederhana itu tak lepas dari minimnya pengetahuan, termasuk dari sisi pembiayaan.
