BEM FMIPA UNNES Bantu Warga Sangup Buat Pakan Ternak Alternatif dan Bernilai Ekonomis

Tim Program Holistik Pembinaan dan Pemberdayaan Desa (PHP2D) Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Matamatika dan Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) membantu warga Sangup dalam program pemberdayaan pembuatan pakan ternak melalui penerapan teknologi tepat guna.

Desa Sangup terletak di Kecamatan Musuk, Boyolali, Jawa Tengah. Saat terjadinya erupsi gunung merapi pada 2010, desa ini juga terdampak erupsi.

Warga desa sangup sebagian besar bekerja sebagai petani, naum beberapa warganya juga memelihara hewan ternak, di antaranya sapi, kambing, dan burung puyuh.

Karena adanya hujan abu vulkanik erupsi Merapi yang telah beberapa kali mengguyur desa ini, warga sekitar susah mencari rumput untuk pakan ternaknya karena tertutup abu vulkanik. Selain itu, adanya krisis pakan ternak ketika terjadi erupsi Merapi

“Tujuan dari program ini adalah untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang ada di Desa Sangup. Kemudian, untuk memberikan manfaat dalam bidang sosial ekonomi,” kata Wakil Dekan Bidang Kemahasiswaan FMIPA UNNES, Dr Parmin, Minggu (19/9).

Lanjut, pakan ternak yang dihasilkan tersebut tidak hanya untuk persediaan saja, tetapi dapat digunakan sebagai produk bernilai ekonomi, terangnya.

Tim Program Holistik Pembinaan dan Pemberdayaan Desa (PHP2D) BEM FMIPA UNNES dinisiasi 15  mahasiswa dan 1 dosen pendamping, bersama dengan Kelompok Tani Mudi Makmur desa Sangup praktik pembuatan pakan ternak alternatif berupa pelet.

Bahan pokok yang digunakan dalam pembuatan pelet tersebut ialah 95 persen Hijauan Pakan Ternak (HPT).

Pemilihan bahan dasar tersebut disesuaikan dengan ketersediaan sumber daya alam yang ada di desa, sehingga dapat meminimalisir biaya yang diperlukan.

“HPT berupa rerumputan yang telah dicacah dicampurkan dengan bahan tambahan berupa cairan seperti vitamin, ragi, dan probiotik sebanyak 2 persen,” jelasnya.

Selain itu, ditambahkan 5-6 persen tepung tapioka. Bahan yang digunakan tersebut sudah difermentasikan terlebih dahulu 5 hari sebelumnya yang kemudian diubah menjadi pelet sebagai pakan ternak alternatif.

Dalam prosesnya, pembuatan pelet tersebut menggunakan mesin pembuat pelet sebagai bagian dari aplikasi teknologi tepat guna.

“Kegiatan PHP2D ini dijalankan dalam kurun waktu 5 bulan, mulai dari Juli-November 2021. Kegiatan yang telah terlaksana dalam program ini sampai awal September di antaranya pembekalan terhadap tim PHP2D, sosialisasi program dengan perangkat desa, kordinasi dengan dinas terkait, serta sosialisasi pembuatan pelet,” jelasnya.

Selain sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan pakan ternak, dalam program ini juga dilakukan kegiatan lainnya.

Antara lain pelatihan pembuatan hand sanitizer, sosialisasi kebiasaan baru (new normal), serta penyuluhan kewirausahaan melalui penjulan hasil produksi dari pelet.

Ketua Tim PHP2D, Mohammad Qois menyampaikan kehadiran BEM FMIPA UNNES di Desa Sangup ini diharapkan mampu memberikan semangat baru bagi masyarakat di tengah pandemi Covid 19.
