BEM 6 Universitas Turut Deklarasikan Universitas Konservasi

Tak hanya civitas akademika yang mendukung Universitas Negeri semarang (Unnes) menjadi Universitas Konservasi. Perwakilan BEM KM dari enam universitas lain juga mendeklarasikan hal sama.

Deklarasi dilakukan Senin (24/6) pagi tadi di sela-sela acara penanaman pohon dalam rangkaian Musyawarah Kerja Nasional Forum Nasional Sosial Masyarakat “We Share Because We Care”di Dusun Watusari Desa Patemon Kecamatan Gunungpasi. Enam delegasi yang terlibat berasal dari Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Riau (UNRI), Universitas Sriwijaya (Unisri), dan IKIP PGRI Semarang.

Menurut Ketua BEM KM Unnes Mahmud Kuncahyo, acara ini digelar untuk mengajak seluruh BEM KM di Indonesia untuk peduli terhadap lingkungan sosial dan masyarakat. “Agar mahasiswa memiliki sens of interest terhadap sosial kemasyarakatan,” kata mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA angkatan 2009 itu.

Selain deklarasi, grand opening desa binaan konservasi peduli, penyerahan dan menanam pohon untuk masyarakat, pemberian bantuan bea studi, munas sosial masyarakat, dan pesta rakyat juga ikut meramaikan acara ini.

Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman menyambut gembira partisipasi sejumlah aktivis BEM KM. “Upaya Mahasiswa melalui BEM KM Unnes untuk terus-menerus menggalakkan pentingnya menanam, melakukan penghijauan, patut kita apresiasi. Bukan hanya mahasiswa, dosen pun akan saya dorong untuk terus menggalakkan penghijauan. Bukan hanya di lingkungan Unnes, tapi di desa desa sekitar Unnes,” katanya.

Acara penanaman pohon juga diikuti ratusan orang yang terdiri atas warga Dusun Watusasri, Kepala Desa Patemon, Dekan, dan pejabat Unnes, termasuk mahasiswa dan puluhan anak asuh dari Panti Asuhan Riyadlus Solihin Gunungpati, serta pengurus Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Semarang.
