Batik, Jaba Becik Jero Becik

Satu hal yang menjadikan batik berbeda dengan tekstil lain adalah karakteristik teknik dalam proses pembatikan yang tidak bisa meninggalkan alat yang bernama canthing. Dilakukan melalui nerusi, serta dalam pewarnaan dilakukan pencelupan yang menjadikan batik indah dilihat dari kedua permukaannya jaba becik jero becik.

“Nilai–nilai yang terdapat pada berbagai ragam dan pewarnaannya, menjadi nilai luhur yang layak untuk dikonservasi, ”kata Purwanto, dosen Seni Rupa Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) saat pembukaan pameran hasil studi batik di Ruang Pamer Seni Rupa Gedung B5 FBS Unnes, Rabu, (4/7).

Menurutnya, materi pameran ini menyajikan batik pada fungsinya sebagai media ungkap ekspresi, bukan bahan sandang, sehingga memiliki pertimbangan estetis tersendiri sesuai dengan orientasi estetis personal kreatornya. “Mereka mencoba membangun makna, dengan bermain irama, mengolah nuansa,” kata dosen pengampu mata kuliah batik itu.

Kegiatan yang diselenggarakan hingga tanggal 10 Juli 2012 ini merupakan muara dari proses lukis batik, sebagai salah satu mata kuliah pilihan yang dapat diprogram oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Seni Rupa.

“Kedudukan mata kuliah lukis batik ini merupakan implementasi kontribusi Jurusan Seni Rupa Unnes sebagai penyangga sekaligus meneguhkan jati diri Unnes sebagai Kampus Konservasi,” kata Ketua Panitia Raphita Ilmiyati, seraya menegaskan bahwa karya ini merupakan ekspresi dari 6 mahasiswa jurusan yang sama.

Pameran ini menunjukkan jika batik sebagai peninggalan budaya Indonesia telah disukai oleh semua kalangan termasuk mahasiswa Seni Rupa Unnes. “Dan pada akhirnya, semuanya itu akan tetap menjaga eksistensi batik itu sendiri,” kata salah satu pengurus Dharma Wanita Persatuan Unnes Indah Bambang Budi Raharjo, dalam sambutan pembukaan mewakili Ketua Dharma wanita.
