Agar si Yatim Piatu Bisa Terus Menuntut Ilmu

Rumah beratap joglo itu terletak di RT 8 RW 3 Desa Karanganyar, Kecamatan Karanganyar, Kabupaten Demak. Dari Jalan Raya Demak-Kudus bisa dijangkau hanya dalam 5 menit. Bangunannya tampak sudah tua. Meski berdinding permanen, catnya tampak kusam. Ada tambalan semen di sana-sini. Lantainya terbuat dari tegel hitam yang kotor oleh debu.

Di rumah itulah Umi Kholifah tinggal bersama kakak perempuannya, Titi Ambarwati. Umi adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Teknologi dan Jasa Produksi (TJP) Fakultas Teknik Unnes penerima Bidikmisi. Ia langsung menyambut Rektor Unnes Prof Fathur Rokhman Mhum ketika Jumat (2/8) siang tadi bertandang ke rumahnya.

“Rumah saya itu, Pak, nomor dua dari sini,” kata gadis berkerudung coklat itu kepada Rektor dan rombongan.

Meski tampak grogi, Umi tak bisa menyembunyikan kegembiraannya dikunjungi Rektor. Lebih-lebih, dalam rombongan ada juga Pembantu Rektor Bidang Kemahasiswaan Prof Dr Masrukhi MPd, Ketua LP2M Drs Bambang Budi Raharjo MSi, dan Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS) Dr Soebagyo MPd. Dengan malu-malu ia memperkenalkan dua kakaknya, Titi Ambarwati dan Saeful Arif.

Umi adalah bungsu dari lima bersaudara. Kedua orang tuanya telah tiada. Ayahnya , Zaenuri, meninggal 2008 silam setelah beberapa lama menderita stroke. Adapun ibunya, Suharti, sudah meninggal dua tahun sebelumnya. Sejak saat itu Umi tinggal dengan kakak perempuannya, Titi, yang ibu rumah tangga dan kakak iparnya yang bekerja sebagai sopir truk.

“Dua kakak perempuan saya sudah menikah dan berkeluarga. Kalau Mas Anwar kerjanya di Kalimantan. Ini di rumah karena mau lebaran,” kata Umi.

Di keluarganya, Umi adalah satu-satunya anak yang bisa menikmati pendidikan tinggi. Berkat beasiswa Bidikmisi ia bisa belajar tanpa harus membayar sepeser pun. Umi bahkan menerima uang saku sebesar Rp600 per bulan dan sejumlah pelatihan pengembangan diri. Kesempatan ini tentu membuat Umi dan keluarganya bungah. Si bungsu punya harapan besar mewujudkan cita-citanya menjadi guru sekaligus pengusaha bidang kuliner.

“Setelah lulus MA saya ingin kuliah tapi jangan sampai merepotkan Mbak dan Mas. Intinya itu. Alhamdulillah permohonan Bidikmisi saya diterima. Kalau tidak ada Bidikmisi nggih mboten saget kuliah,” lanjut alumni MA Masroatul Huda ini.

Umi bukan satu-satunya anak muda yang terbantu oleh Bidikmisi. Ada lebih dari 3.600 mahasiswa Unnes yang telah menerima beasiswa itu. Jumlah itu akan bertambah karena pada tahun 2013 ini Unnes kembali menerima 1.750 mahasiswa berprestasi dari keluarga tidak mampu dengan biaya penuh dari Bidikmisi.

“Ini sudah jadi komitmen Universitas Negeri Semarang untuk menyediakan paling sedikit 20 persen kuta mahasiswa untuk mahasiswa dari keluarga tidak mampu. Tahun ini, jika diakumulasi, bahkan sudah mencapai 26 persen. Semoga anak-anak muda yang cerdas ini punya masa depan cerah,” ungkap Rektor usai kunjungan itu.
