624 Atlet Ikuti Pomprov Jateng

Sebanyak 624 atlet mahasiwa di Jawa Tengah mengikuti Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Provinsi (Pomprov), 14-17 Juli, di Semarang. Pomprov sekaligus menjadi salah satu ajang seleksi untuk Pekan Olahraga Mahasiwa Nasional (Pomnas) di Kepulauan Seribu, September mendatang.

Ketua Panitia, Tri Rustiadi, Rabu (13/7) di Rektorat Unnes, menyebutkan, ajang yang sudah empat kali digelar ini akan mempertandingkan delapan cabang olahraga, yakni atletik, basket, voli, catur, futsal, bulu tangkis, karate, dan pencak silat. Terdapat total 84 nomor yang dipertandingkan.

“Kegiatan ini dalam rangka membina atlet-atlet mahasiswa di Jateng. Juga untuk meningkatkan motivasi berkompetisi atlet sekaligus sebagai seleksi Pomnas di Kepri September mendatang,” kata Tri Rustiadi, yang juga Sekum KONI Jateng itu.

Dia menyebutkan peserta yang turun di Pomprov ini sebelumnya telah melewati seleksi di masing-masing rayon, yakni di Rayon I Semarang dan sekitarnya, Rayon II Surakarta dan sekitarnya, dan Rayon III Banyumas dan sekitarnya.

Pekan olarhaga ini akan digelar di tiga tempat yakni kampus Unnes Sekaran untuk cabang atletik, voli, catur, karate, dan pencak silat, di Knight Stadium untuk basket dan futsal, dan di GOR Trilomba Juang untuk bulu tangkis.

Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Ketua Umum Badan Pembina Olahraga Mahasiswa Indonesia (Bapomi) Jateng, Masrukhi, menjelaskan ketentuan atlet yang berhak mewakili Jateng ke Pomnas mendatang. Untuk cabang perorangan, atlet yang menjadi juara berpeluang besar untuk dikirim. Sementara untuk cabang beregu, tim yang menang 80 persen atletnya akan dikirim.

“Batasan usia atlet yang boleh mengikuti adalah maksimal 25 tahun pada September mendatang. Kami sadar benar bahwa atlet-atlet mahasiswa adalah masa-masa emas seorang atlet. Karena itu ajang ini bisa dimanfaatkan untuk mengasah kemampuan sebaik-baiknya,” katanya.

Jateng pada Pomnas di Palembang 2009 lalu berada di peringkat kedua dengan raihan 26 keping medali emas, 16 perak, dan 26 perunggu, di bawah DKI Jakarta. Pada Pomnas di Kepri mendatang, akan dipertandingkan 10 cabang olahraga yakni delapan cabang di Pomprov ini ditambah renang dan sepak takraw.

Ia berharap, Jateng dapat meningkatkan prestasinya di Pomnas mendatang. Pembantu Rektor III Unnes itu juga mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Gubernur Jateng yang telah memberikan bantuan akomodasi dan transportasi kepada peserta.
