16 Mahasiswa Asing Belajar Konservasi di Unnes

Sebanyak 16 mahasiswa asing yang mengikuti program Short Course of Environmental Conservation and Indonesian Culture (See-Conic) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), diterima secara resmi dalam acara penerimaan mahasiswa asing di gedung rektorat kampus Sekaran, Senin (19/8).

Selama dua minggu, mereka berkesempatan untuk mengikuti kursus konservasi dan kebudayaan Indonesia.

Mahasiswa asing itu datang dari berbagai negara, di antaranya Malaysia sebanyak 4 orang, Thailand (8), Jepang (1), dan Vietnam (3).

Rektor Unnes Prof Fathur Rokhman MHum dalam acara penerimaan mengatakan, melalui program pengenalan budaya Indonesia kepada mahasiswa asing, khususnya mahasiswa Asia ini, mereka mempelajari konservasi budaya.

“Di Unnes mereka mempelajari bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Jawa, kesenian Jawa, seni kriya, dan batik. Mereka juga akan diajak berkunjung ke candi borobudur dan lawang sewu,” katanya.

Setiap tahun, Unnes menawarkan 2 minggu homestay di Semarang dengan memberikan kesempatan mahasiswa untuk mengikuti kursus konservasi dan kebudayaan Indonesia dengan biaya sepuluh ribu baht atau sekitar tiga juta rupiah.

Melalui program ini, Prof Fathur berharap Unnes akan lebih dikenal di mancanegara. “Kerja sama ini kami harapkan dapat membantu Unnes untuk menuju world class university,” tandasnya.

Mereka juga dipersilakan menggunakan fasilitas laboratorium di semua fakultas di Unnes secara gratis. “Segenap dosen dan karyawan akan menyambut mereka dan memberikan fasilitas yang terbaik,” ujarnya.

Pada kesempatan yang sama, Pengelola Program See-Conic Unnes Hendi Pratama MA menyampaikan kebanggaannya karena jumlah mahasiswa asing yang belajar di Unnes terus meningkat.

“Sejalan dengan makin dikenalnya Unnes di mancanegara, target internasionalisasi Unnes tahun 2020 dapat segera dicapai,” kata Hendi yang juga Ketua International Office Unnes itu.

Hendi juga mengungkapkan, dalam rangka visi internasionalisasi, minggu lalu Unnes juga telah membuka stan pameran pendidikan internasional di Songkhla Thailand, guna menjaring calon mahasiswa asing khususnya dari Thailand.
