Staf Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP) Republik Indonesia Dr Miftahul Huda MSi berharap agar pemerintah daerah meningkatkan integritas dalam mengelola anggaran untuk mencapai keberhasilan pembangunan masyarakat daerah dan optimalisasi operasional pemerintah itu sendiri.

Harapan itu disampaikan saat menjadi pembicara pada seminar Nasional Jurusan Geografi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Semarang (FIS UNNES), Jumat (20/10), di Gedung C7 Lantai 3 FIS Kampus Sekaran.

Dr Miftah berpendapat, bangsa Indonesia harus memiliki keteguhan hati dalam menjaga integritas. Ia mengatakan, bangsa dan pemerintah yang lemah akan mudah digoyang oleh kekuatan-kekuatan besar yang terus datang bertubi-tubi untuk menghancurkan integritas yang telah dibangun bangsa. Ia mencontohkan beberapa kebijakan KKP yang sering mendapat tantangan dari luar.

Dihadapan 200-an  mahasiswa dan dosen Jurusan Geografi FIS UNNES, Dr Miftah juga memaparkan tentang pemanfaatan ruang laut diatur oleh KKP dan pemerintah daerah sesuai kewenangan masing-masing. Saat ini kementerian KKP sedang intensif mengembangkan pulau-pulau kecil dan terluar untuk menjalin kedaulan laut Indonesia dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Ketua Panitia seminar Dr Erni Suharini MSi melaporkan kegiatan ini diadakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman kemaritiman Indonesia. Indonesia, lanjut Erni, adalah negara kepulauan yang batas negaranya didominasi oleh perairan bukan daratan. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk diingat bahwa sistem keamanannya harus dimulai dari perairan bukan dari daratan.
