Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has officially established the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center through Rector’s Decree No. T/4356/UN37/HK.02/2024. This policy highlights UNNES’s active role in supporting the achievement of the United Nations’ global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
SDGs Center under the International Affairs Office
According to the decree, the SDGs Center is designated as a special unit under the coordination of the International Affairs Office (IO). The Head of the International Affairs Office is appointed as the person in charge of the Center and reports directly to the Rector of UNNES.
Roles and Functions
The UNNES SDGs Center is mandated to carry out several strategic functions, including:
- Coordinating research, education, training, and community service activities that support SDGs implementation.
- Building networks and collaborations with international institutions, government bodies, and civil society organizations related to SDGs.
- Coordinating data collection, publications, and reporting of university activities relevant to SDGs.
- Supporting the internationalization of UNNES through SDGs programs.
- Providing policy recommendations to university leadership regarding SDGs achievement.
- Preparing annual reports on the progress of SDGs within the university.
- Organizing seminars, workshops, and discussions on current SDGs issues.
- Facilitating capacity development for lecturers, students, and academic staff in SDGs implementation.
- Developing and managing information systems related to SDGs at UNNESKeprek Pembentukan SDGs Center.
UNNES’s Commitment to Global Goals
Rector of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, emphasized that the establishment of this center reflects the university’s concrete commitment to academic and social contributions toward sustainable development. “With the SDGs Center, UNNES is better prepared to play an important role in the global movement for a better future,” he stated in the Rector’s Decree.
