Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has shown great concern for students still residing in boarding houses amid COVID-19 precautions and preventive measures.
Under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum, UNNES has united in its active implementation of various precautionary efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, demonstrating a collective commitment to student welfare.
“UNNES is adopting a Work from Home (WFH) policy for work and study. However, given that many students are from outside the region or Java, some remain in boarding houses, necessitating our attention. Through the Student Affairs Division, UNNES monitors the health and safety of these students. We hope this staple food assistance package can help those in boarding houses,” said Prof. Fathur Rokhman.
Chairman of Rumah Amal Lazis UNNES, Dr. Edy Purwanto, M.Si, announced that UNNES distributed 2,073 staple food packages to support students who cannot return home. The distribution occurred on Wednesday, April 8, at the Sekaran Gunungpati campus.
The food packages were delivered from Rumah Amal Lazis UNNES to each Faculty on April 8, 2020. Each faculty member will arrange the distribution to students, adhering to health protocols to prevent crowding.
To ensure the safety of all students, a meticulous schedule was implemented for the collection of food packages. Each package, valued at approximately IDR 120,000, includes 29 packets of instant noodles, 2 bottles of soy sauce, and 3 kg of rice, providing a sense of reassurance and care.
A total of 2,073 students received the aid, with distribution as follows: Faculty of Education (FIP) 272, Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) 537, Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS) 179, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) 288, Faculty of Engineering (FT) 211, Faculty of Sports Sciences (FIK) 174, Faculty of Economics (FE) 269, and Faculty of Law 143.
