Universitas Negeri Semarang > Sustainable Development Goals Universitas Negeri Semarang > SDGS Goals > Climate action > Sustainable Commitment: UNNES Adds 11 New Electric Vehicles

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to actively reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Recently, UNNES added 11 new electric vehicles, commonly referred to as “shuttle”, to its fleet. With this addition, the total number of electric vehicles at UNNES now stands at 18.

In addition to reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, these shuttles aim to enhance services for the academic community on campus. Students, lecturers, and academic staff can utilize these shuttles to facilitate mobility within the campus environment.

The shuttle routes include stops at key campus locations, starting from Tugu Garuda, Gedung Prof. Retno Sriningsih Satmoko (LPPM), Archives Building , Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP), Faculty of Sports Science (FIK), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Prof. Dirham Athletic Field, Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Library (Rumah Ilmu), UNNES Digital Center, Prof. Wutyanto Auditorium, Prof. Satmoko Building (LPPP), and back to Tugu Garuda.

The UNNES shuttles also feature 21 strategically located shelters, allowing passengers to board and alight at convenient points. Shuttle locations can be tracked in real-time through the “Track Shuttle Location” feature in the My UNNES-Mobile application.

UNNES Rector, Prof. S. Martono hopes that the increased number of electric vehicles will not only provide enhanced mobility for the academic community but also strengthen UNNES’s commitment to being an environmentally conscious campus. This initiative is expected to inspire other educational institutions to adopt eco-friendly technologies in support of the national carbon emission reduction goals.

Furthermore, UNNES aspires for the utilization of these electric vehicles to raise awareness among its academic community regarding the importance of sustainable and energy-efficient lifestyles. Through these measures, UNNES aims to continually innovate in fostering a modern, eco-friendly campus ecosystem that supports forward-looking education.
