Biodiversity is a matter that should be considered by all parties, given its role in maintaining the survival of living organisms and environmental sustainability. The provision of empowerment locations to preserve biodiversity is an integral component. The Tegal Regency Government acknowledges the existence of 20 ecosystem services that support biodiversity, which tend to decline. Therefore, starting from supporting environmental capacity studies, the Tegal Regency Government, through the Department of Environment, strives to enhance environmental support and capacity through the development planning of the Biodiversity Park (Taman Kehati).
To support Taman Kehati, the Environmental Agency of Tegal Regency has initiated collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). This collaboration began with initial discussions at the D12 Dean’s Office of FMIPA UNNES on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Further in-depth discussions occurred at the Tegal Regency Secretary’s Office on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Representatives from UNNES included Deputy Dean 3 for Business, Research, and Cooperation, Professor Dr. Sutikno, M.T., along with the cooperation team and research team consisting of Professor Dr. Enni Suwarsi Rahayu, M.Si., Professor Dr. Margareta Rahayuningsih, M.Si., Professor Dr. Noor Aini Habibah, S.Si., M.Si., and Dr. Andin Irsadi, S.Pd., M.Si. Representatives from the Environmental Agency of Tegal Regency included the Secretary, Mr. Edy Sucipto, SKM, M.Si., and the Head of Environmental Arrangement Division, Mr. Taroyo S.T., M.T.In addition, several agencies related to Taman Kehati were also present, including the Head of Tourism of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office, Mr. Joko Sunarto S.STP.
The discussion determined several agreements related to biodiversity conservation cooperation in Tegal Regency and the tri dharma of higher education, with the implementation divided into the main fields, supporters, and tri dharma written in the form of a cooperation agreement.
The primary implementation includes research in the field of biodiversity and the Climate Village Program; biodiversity protection and the Climate Village Programme; biodiversity development and the Climate Village Program; the application of Science and Technology (IPTEK) in the field of biodiversity and the Climate Village Program; the operation of science and technology in the field of biodiversity and the Climate Village Program; and policy evaluation in the field of biodiversity and the Climate Village Program.
