GROBOGAN – In order to strengthen family food security, UNNES GIAT 12 KKN students implemented the AYOM PANGAN (Women Agents of Pancasila: Strengthening Family Food Security) work program by involving the “Mugi Lestari” Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Grobogan Village. The event, held on August 5–6, 2025, on Jalan Pucang, RW 03, aimed to enhance women’s knowledge, understanding, and skills in optimally managing local food potential.
On the first day, the activity focused on education about the concept of family food security, the importance of women’s roles in utilizing local food resources, and the abundant food potential in the Grobogan area, such as corn, soybeans, and cassava. Before the presentation of the material, participants took a pre-test in the form of true-false questions to measure their initial knowledge. After the material session, discussion, and experience sharing, the participants took a post-test again. The assessment results showed an increase in understanding of family food security.
On the second day, the event was filled with educational demonstrations on how to make local food products. Participants were introduced to an innovative recipe called JAGGIE (Jagung Nuggie), corn-based nuggets that are easy to make at home. To facilitate understanding, the committee provided leaflets containing recipes, step-by-step instructions, and nutritional information. Participants were also given the opportunity to taste the JAGGIE products.
The enthusiasm of the participants was evident, as expressed by Mrs. Mulyati, a member of the “Mugi Lestari” Women’s Working Group in Grobogan Village. “I feel that this activity has been very helpful. In addition to increasing my knowledge about the importance of family food, I have also gained new skills for processing food at home. It could even be a small business opportunity for us,” she said.
The second day’s activities were also attended by the Head of Grobogan Village, the Chairwoman of the PKK, and the Chairwoman of Working Group 3, who gave their full support to the students’ initiative in educating women farmers.
By utilizing local potential through simple innovations such as processing corn into nuggets, women are expected to be able to improve family food security while opening up opportunities for small businesses with economic value. Meanwhile, the AYOM PANGAN program implemented by UNNES GIAT 12 SKM KKN students in Grobogan Village is expected to inspire other regions to mobilize women as the frontline of family food security, starting from their own kitchens.
