Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues improving quality and competitiveness globally. On Tuesday (3/9), UNNES welcomed new international students for the 2024/2025 academic year through various admission routes, including scholarships and independent selection aimed at prospective students from multiple countries.
This event was attended by Vice Rector IV for Cooperation, Business, & International Relations Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM. , Head of the International Office, Lulu April Farida, S.Pd., M.Pd., and the dean and vice dean of the faculty in the Senate Room, Rectorate Building H.
In his remarks, Prof. Nur Qudus emphasized that students focus on gaining knowledge seriously. The professor at the Faculty of Engineering also asked students to be disciplined by complying with the rules that have been given. In the KNB (Developing Countries Partnership) Scholarship route, UNNES accepted five students. Meanwhile, the independent selection path accepts five students after a strict selection process.
This year, UNNES received 562 applicants for the 2024 new international student admission pathway, with 308 of them taking part in interviews. Of these, only 14 confirmed the acceptance of the UNNES scholarship, and four others chose to finance their studies independently.
In addition, UNNES also introduced the International RPL Program (3+1), which is the result of collaboration with Yuan Li Education, China. In this program, five students from China will undergo a one-year study at UNNES in Management, Elementary School Teacher Education, and Informatics and Computer Engineering Education study programs.
The following are the statistics of international student admissions for the 2024 academic year: 18 UNNES scholarships, 5 KNB scholarships, 5 Darmasiswa scholarships, and four self-financed scholarships.
The accepted International students come from various countries, including Pakistan, Timor Leste, Ghana, Nigeria, Viet Nam, and many more. They will study in different faculties and programs ranging from undergraduate to graduate.
With students’ diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences, international students can quickly adjust well, be disciplined, and succeed in studying in Indonesia.
