Semarang — Tim peneliti dari Program Studi Bimbingan dan Konseling, Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan dan Psikologi (FIPP) Universitas Negeri Semarang, bekerja sama dengan University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Toowoomba, Australia, melaksanakan penelitian kolaboratif internasional berjudul “Exploring Strength-Based Character Among Indonesian and Australian Students: A Mixed Method Study”. Penelitian ini  berlangsung pada Juni hingga Agustus 2025.

Penelitian ini secara strategis berkontribusi pada pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya SDG 4 (Quality Education) dan SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), melalui penguatan karakter positif dan kesejahteraan psikososial peserta didik. Fokus pada strength-based character menempatkan potensi, nilai, dan kekuatan individu sebagai modal utama dalam membangun generasi yang sehat secara mental, adaptif, dan berdaya saing global.

Ketua tim peneliti, Dr. Muslikah, S.Pd., M.Pd, menyampaikan bahwa pendekatan berbasis kekuatan sangat relevan dalam konteks pendidikan abad ke-21. “Pendidikan karakter tidak lagi cukup menekankan aspek kognitif, tetapi harus memperkuat dimensi psikososial, resiliensi, dan makna diri siswa. Inilah esensi dari pendidikan berkualitas yang berorientasi pada keberlanjutan,” jelasnya.

Dari sisi kebijakan nasional, penelitian ini juga sejalan dengan Asta Cita, khususnya agenda pembangunan sumber daya manusia yang unggul, berkarakter, dan berkeadilan. Melalui kajian lintas budaya antara Indonesia dan Australia, penelitian ini memberikan landasan empiris bagi pengembangan layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang kontekstual, inklusif, serta responsif terhadap keberagaman nilai dan budaya.

Tim peneliti UNNES yang terlibat terdiri atas Prof. Dr. Awalya, M.Pd., Kons, Mulawarman, Ph.D, Dr. Ernest Ceti Septyanti, M.Si, Dr. Ashari Mahfud, S.Pd.I., M.Pd, Petra Kristi Mulyani, S.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D, Zaki Nurul Amin, M.Pd, dan Sigit Haryadi, M.Pd. Sementara itu, kolaborasi internasional diwujudkan melalui keterlibatan Boyd Whalan dari University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

Penelitian ini juga melibatkan mitra industri, PT Tallo Kembar Australiaindo, yang diwakili oleh Benjamin Giles, sebagai bagian dari penguatan ekosistem riset kolaboratif dan hilirisasi pengetahuan. Sinergi antara akademisi dan mitra strategis ini mencerminkan komitmen terhadap SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Melalui metode mixed method, tim peneliti menggali data kuantitatif mengenai profil karakter berbasis kekuatan siswa, sekaligus data kualitatif yang merefleksikan pengalaman dan makna subjektif siswa dalam konteks budaya masing-masing. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan model layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang mendukung kesejahteraan mental, pembentukan karakter, dan kesiapan siswa sebagai warga global.

Kolaborasi riset ini menegaskan peran UNNES sebagai perguruan tinggi yang berkomitmen pada pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan yang berdampak, selaras dengan agenda global SDGs dan prioritas pembangunan nasional Asta Cita, guna menyiapkan generasi muda yang berkarakter kuat, berdaya saing, dan berkontribusi bagi pembangunan berkelanjutan.
