PGSD UNNES dan Melbourne University Gelar Joint Teaching dalam Mata Kuliah Manajemen Sekolah untuk Membekali Calon Guru SD sebagai Transformational Leader dalam Meningkatkan Quality of Education

Semarang, 15 September 2025 – Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) bekerja sama dengan Melbourne University menyelenggarakan kegiatan joint teaching pada mata kuliah Manajemen Sekolah yang diikuti mahasiswa semester 3. Kegiatan ini merupakan wujud nyata kolaborasi internasional untuk mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4) tentang Quality of Education.

Dalam kegiatan ini, Donnie Adams, Ph.D, Senior Lecturer in Education and Research, Faculty of Education, Melbourne University, hadir sebagai dosen inbound. Beliau berbagi pengetahuan dan pengalaman tentang pentingnya kepemimpinan transformasional dalam manajemen sekolah, khususnya bagaimana kepala sekolah dapat membangun lingkungan yang inklusif sekaligus berorientasi pada kinerja tinggi.

Dr. Adams menekankan bahwa kepemimpinan transformasional sangat relevan untuk menjawab tantangan pendidikan dasar di era global. Menurutnya, leadership identik dengan perubahan (change), yaitu kemampuan pemimpin untuk menghadirkan inovasi dan pembaruan di sekolah. Di sisi lain, management erat kaitannya dengan pemeliharaan (maintenance), yakni memastikan bahwa budaya baru, praktik baik, dan sistem yang telah dibangun dapat terus terjaga dan berkelanjutan.

“Seorang pemimpin transformasional harus mampu mendorong terjadinya perubahan positif di sekolah melalui kepemimpinan yang visioner, namun pada saat yang sama juga memastikan melalui manajemen yang efektif bahwa perubahan tersebut dapat dipertahankan dan dijalankan secara konsisten,” ungkap Dr. Adams. Dengan demikian, kepemimpinan dan manajemen dipandang sebagai dua sisi yang saling melengkapi: kepemimpinan menciptakan perubahan, sedangkan manajemen menjaga keberlangsungan dan stabilitasnya.

Kegiatan joint teaching ini dilaksanakan bersama Dr. Wulan Aulia Azizah, M.Pd, dosen PGSD UNNES, yang berperan sebagai mitra pelaksana. Melalui kolaborasi ini, mahasiswa memperoleh perspektif internasional tentang bagaimana kepala sekolah sebagai transformational leader dapat memberdayakan guru, menumbuhkan budaya sekolah yang inklusif, dan berorientasi pada mutu pendidikan.

Kerja sama ini menjadi bukti komitmen PGSD UNNES dalam memperkuat internasionalisasi kurikulum sekaligus memberikan pengalaman belajar bermakna bagi calon guru sekolah dasar. Dengan pembekalan kepemimpinan transformasional sejak dini, mahasiswa diharapkan mampu menjadi agen perubahan yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pendidikan dasar di Indonesia.
