Psikologi UNNES – Prodi Psikologi Universitas Negeri Semarang mengadakan acara Guest Lecture International Class pada hari Rabu, (28/08) yang dihadiri oleh mahasiswa internasional Prodi Psikologi Semester 1 dan 5 di Gedung A6 FIPP UNNES.

Acara tersebut mengundang Dr. Nur Farhana Ardillah Afta, Ph.D., yang membahas mengenai Sign Language: The Important of Psychology Communication in Divers Context, dan berlangsung selama 1 Jam 15 Menit.

Dr. Nur Farhana Ardillah Afta, Ph.D., menjelaskan dalam penyampaiannya bahwa bahasa isyarat seperti ASL memiliki tata bahasa dan struktur yang berbeda dari bahasa lisan, dengan melibatkan gerakan tubuh dan ekspresi wajah untuk menyampaikan makna. Perbedaan ini sering kali membuat orang tuli, terutama yang juga memiliki autisme atau ADHD, memiliki kebutuhan komunikasi khusus, sehingga mereka cenderung lebih nyaman berinteraksi dalam komunitas mereka sendiri. Meskipun beberapa orang tuli mendapatkan implan koklea untuk membantu pendengaran, mereka tetap memerlukan pelatihan tambahan untuk dapat fokus pada satu suara dalam lingkungan yang ramai. Selain itu, komunikasi di antara mereka bisa dilakukan melalui sentuhan pada punggung, bahu, atau telapak tangan, di mana setiap gerakan memiliki makna tertentu. Untuk anak-anak dengan disabilitas intelektual, penggunaan gambar menjadi alat penting untuk mengekspresikan kebutuhan dan keinginan mereka, melengkapi metode komunikasi lainnya.

“Acara hari ini sungguh luar biasa. Kami mengundang rekan kami dari Universiti Malaysia Sabah, yaitu Dr. Nur Farhana Ardillah Afta, Ph.D., untuk membagikan ilmunya kepada mahasiswa. Diharapkan acara ini dapat membantu mahasiswa menambah kompetensi mereka dan memperluas relasi bagi dosen-dosen di Psikologi UNNES,” ungkap Bu Pradipta Christy Pratiwi, S.Psi., M.Psi., dosen Psikologi UNNES.
