On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, a research team from the Faculty of Education and Psychology, UNNES, served as guest lecturers at the Graduate School of Education, Tohoku University, Japan. This activity was organized as one of the outcomes of the collaborative research between FIPP UNNES and Tohoku. The event, themed “Bridging Borders through Education; Case Studies from Indonesia and Japan,” presented studies on educational practices in the two countries.

The session began with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dai Matsumoto, Ph.D., who examined lifelong education practices within the Japanese education system. It was followed by a presentation from Rina Windiarti, M.Ed., who explained best educational practices in Indonesia.

“This activity is a tangible collaboration between FIPP UNNES and Tohoku University, Japan. What is presented is also part of the research results, creating a process of research dissemination,” said Farid Ahmadi, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FIPP UNNES.

The Guest Lecture took place in the auditorium of the Graduate School of Education, Tohoku University, Japan. The program was attended by Tohoku students from various semesters. The research team included Dr. Diana as the Head Researcher, Farid Ahmadi, Ph.D., Rina Windiarti, M.Ed., Eem Munawaroh, M.Pd., Zakky Nurul Amin, M.Pd., Akaat Hasdianto, M.Pd., and All Fine Loretha, M.Pd., as research team members.

In addition to conducting the Guest Lecture, the research team also collected data at three community centers in Japan, including Iwakiri Community Learning Centre, Sendai Media Tech, and Yoshijima Community Learning Centre. They also participated in a workshop with the JICA organization. This activity is expected to be the beginning of a strong collaboration between FIPP UNNES and Tohoku University, Japan. In the future, it is hoped that this collaboration will extend to various forms of activities with the FIPP study program.
