Description

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) offers a study program in Public Health at the bachelor level. UNNES commit to having graduates who are professional, innovative, competitive, and sensitive to environmental conservation, moral, and social-cultural. The public health students are equipped with entrepreneurship, Public Health Department that characterizes UNNES, namely school-based public health education, and the general Public Health Department. The general public science is divided into Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Public Health Nutrition, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Health Promotion and Behavioral Science, and Health Policy Administration.

Mission

  1. Organize high-quality education in public health to support the provision of human resources as public health experts who are professional, innovative, competitive, and conservation-mindedness;
  2. Researching the development of science and technology to support education and sustainable public health;
  3. Empower the Public Health Department to play an active role in health development through community service based on science and technology development, particularly in the field of health;
  4. Establish cooperation with external agencies to develop the nation’s culture and civilization that upholds conservation values in producing graduates of Public Health Expert.

The Objectives of UNNES Public Health Department:

  1. Create public health graduates who meet the competency standards of health experts, are excellent in health education and conservation-mindedness;
  2. Create research products in the public health field, which are conservation-minded and competitive;
  3. Create products, ideas, appropriate technology, social engineering in the public health field for community service activities;
  4. Generate cooperative partnerships or networks with stakeholders for the public interest in improving public health.

The Competences of Public Health Graduates

  1. Able to do research, analysis, and assessment
  2. Able to develop policies and pre-planned health programs (Policy development and planning program)
  3. Have excellent communication skills
  4. Capable of empowering communities (Community dimensions of practice)
  5. Understand the basics of Public Health Science
  6. Able to do financial planning and its management
  7. Have leadership and critical thinking skills (total system)

Learning Outcomes

Attitudes

Every graduate of UNNES Public Health Department must have the following attitudes:

  1. Being conscious and mindful of God as well as being able to show religious attitudes;
  2. Upholding the value of humanity in carrying out duties based on religion, morals, and ethics;
  3. Contributing to improving the quality of life in the community, nation, and country as well as giving progress for a civilization based on Pancasila ideology;
  4. Playing the role of a proud citizen who loves the country, has nationalism and a sense of responsibilities to the country and nation;
  5. Having respect for the diversity of cultures, point of views, religions, beliefs, and different opinions and original inventions of other people;
  6. Being able to work in team-player and have social sensitivity as well as showing deep concern for the community and its environment;
  7. Obeying the law and being discipline as an Indonesia citizen;
  8. Internalizing academic values, norms, and ethics;
  9. Being responsible for the work in his/her expertise areas independently;
  10. Internalizing appreciative attitudes and concerns in preserving the environment, art, and social-culture values developed in society

Knowledge

Every graduate of UNNES Public Health Department must be knowledgable in:

  1. Understanding cultural competency or local wisdom;
  2. Mastering the basics of Public Health Science.

General Skills

Each graduate of UNNES Public Health Department must have the following general skills:

  1. Applying logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking in the context of the development or implementation of science and technology that pays attention to using humanities values under his/her areas of expertise;
  2. Showing an independent, excellent quality, and measurable performance;
  3. Being able to examine the implications of development or implementation of technological science that pays attention in applying humanities values under his/her expertise based on scientific rules, procedures, and ethics to produce solutions, ideas, designs, or art criticisms, compile scientific descriptions of the results of his/her research in the form of a thesis or final project report and upload it on the university’s website;
  4. Developing a scientific description of his/her result of the study above in the form of a thesis or final task report, and upload it on the university’s website;
  5. Making the right decision in the context of problem-solving in his/her areas of expertise, based on the results of data and information analysis;
  6. Maintaining and developing networks with supervisors, colleagues even outside his/her institution;
  7. Being responsible for achieved results of his/her group work and conducting supervision and evaluation to the completion of work assigned to the workers under his/her responsibility
  8. Being able to conduct studies and analysis and assessment in public health;
  9. Being able to communicate effectively;
  10. Having leadership and system thinking (total system)
