Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global agenda agreed upon by all member states of the United Nations (UN) as a joint commitment to create a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world. Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, the SDGs are aimed at addressing various development challenges, ranging from poverty, inequality, education, to climate change. Higher education has a strategic role in achieving the SDGs through integration into the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely:

  1. Education: producing graduates who are aware of sustainability issues and able to become agents of change.
  2. Research: encourage the development of science and technology that supports the achievement of the SDGs.
  3. Community Service: applying the results of research and science to solve real problems in society.

The presence of universities as a center of excellence assists the central government and local governments in the preparation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the SDGs/SDGs Action Plan in Indonesia.
