The Asset and Business Optimization Agency (BOAB) or previously known as Business Development Agency (BPB) was formed through Rector Regulation no. 20 of 2015 concerning Management of Business Units in the Business Development Unit of Semarang State University. Furthermore, along with the issuance of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 23 of 2015 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of Semarang State University, the Chancellor’s Regulation No. 25 of 2018 concerning the Business Development Agency (BPB) of Semarang State University. BPB is in charge of creating new business units, developing business units and optimizing resources both human resources and other resources owned by UNNES to obtain university funding sources other than Single Tuition Fees (UKT) and Institution Development Donations (SPI) to increase revenue (income generating) in the implementation of the implementation of financial management for State Universities with Legal Entities (PTN BH) UNNES which was inaugurated on October 20, 2022.

UNNES as a PTN Legal Entity is required to make various breakthroughs, especially in improving tutoring services and increasing income for operational activities and development. One of the breakthroughs to increase revenue is to carry out various business activities through the utilization of assets by establishing cooperation both at home and abroad. The Business Development Agency is one of the supporting units at Semarang State University which has the task of providing excellent academic and non-academic services to the community through Operational Cooperation (KSO), Management Cooperation (KSM), and Providing services to the community through business units.

Some of the achievements of the business units in the BOAB include: First, the Health Service Center (Puslakes) has the status of a Pratama Clinic, resulting in an increase in health services by increasing the number of days and hours of service until evening. Collaboration with BPJS is further strengthened as a basic service for patients. Puslakes also provides health tests and drug tests for new students, as well as antigen swab services to detect the Covid-19 virus. Second, UNNES Press as a printing unit, serves the printing needs of units within Semarang State University, students, and the general public. Third, the hostel as a place for the formation of student character always prioritizes the spirit of kinship in a multicultural hostel environment, so as to create residential comfort. Fourth, Operational Cooperation (KSO) and Management Cooperation (KSM) continue to be improved in order to increase Income Generating, optimize building assets, space, equipment and machinery, vehicles and land. The Entrepreneurship Building as a business center is fully occupied by partners/tenants. The Multipurpose Building (GSG) as an office building has also been optimally utilized with partner cooperation that continues from year to year. Optimization of UNNES assets is increasingly being intensified in order to minimize idle assets.
