UGM Juarai Debat Politik Tingkat Mahasiswa Nasional di UNNES

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) menjuarai Debat Politik Mahasiswa tingkat Nasional yang diselenggarakan oleh Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan Politik dan Kewarganegaraan (PKN) Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES).

Disusul juara II oleh Universitas Udayana Bali. Masing-masing juara memperoleh plakat penghargaan dan uang pembinaan, Sabtu (20/5) di gedung Prof Satmoko Laboratorium LPTK Terpadu. Dalam kompetisi ini juga menganugerahkan best essay kepada tim dari UGM dan best speaker kepada Defila Priana Falarima dari UGM.

Kompetisi diikuti oleh 16 tim dari 14 Universitas. Mereka adalah Universitas Gadjah Mada (Yogyakarta), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Surabaya), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Semarang), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (Banjarmasin), Universitas Indonesia (Depok), dan Universitas Pattimura (Ambon).

Kemudian Universitas Padjajaran (Bandung), Universitas Sumatera Utara (Medan), Universitas Islam Indonesia (Yogyakarta), Universitas Syah Kuala (Banda Aceh), Universitas Udayana (Bali), Universitas Jember (Jember), Universitas Panca Sakti (Tegal), dan Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga (Yogyakarta).

Mosi yang diusung dalam babak final adalah tugas pokok dan fungsi KPK di Indonesia. Perdebatan menjadi sangat menarik karena menggunakan sistem debat Asian Parliamentary. Sistem ini memberikan kesempatan kepada tim lawan untuk melakukan interupsi ketika argumentasi sedang dilakukan.

Salah seorang Juri Debat Erisandi Arditama SIP MA menjelaskan, sebagai kaum akademisi kita harus memiliki bekal yang cukup yakni data, teori, dan konsep.

Stand Out nya itu dari data, teori, dan konsep. Itu penting terutama dalam kompetisi debat ilmiah semacam ini” jelas Sandi.

Wakil Dekan bidang Kemahasiswaan Fakultas Ilmu Sosial UNNES Drs Ngabiyanto MSi mengapresiasi kegiatan ini.
Menurut Dosen Jurusan Politik dan Kewarganegaraan ini, debat merupakan bagian dari pengembangan penalaran mahasiswa. Kompetisi debat semacam ini akan melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis, membangun argumen, dan menghargai lawan debat.
