Lesson study merupakan model pembinaan profesi pendidik melalui pengkajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan berlandaskan prinsip-prinsip kolegalitas dan saling membantu untuk membangun masyarakat belajar.

Hal itu diungkapkan Drs Sukirman MPd dalam sosialisasi hibah perluasan lesson study batch I di Gedung D5 lantai III FMIPA Universitas Negeri Semarang, Selasa (22/2).

“Lesson study bukan metode pembelajaran atau strategi pembelajaran, melainkan dalam lesson study dapat dipilih dan diterapkan berbagai metode/strategi pembelajaran atau materi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan situasi, kondisi, atau masalah pembelajaran yang dihadapi siswa dan pendidik,” kata dosen Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) yang juga pendamping Hibah Perluasan Studi dari Kemdiknas ini.

Menurutnya, sering kali pejabat beranggapan kegiatan open class dan refleksi adalah kegiatan guru, sehingga hanya guru yang berhak melakukannya secara intensif, mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga refleksi. “Namun sebenarnya tidaklah demikian. Agar dapat memahami dan menghayati bagaimana siswa belajar dan permasalahan apa saja yang bersangkutan dengan proses pembelajaran, semua yang berkepentingan dengan pendidikan ikut secara aktif terutama pada waktu pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan refleksi,” katanya.

Menurut Iwan Junaedi  selaku Ketua Panitia Sosialisasi Lesson Study, kegiatan ini diikuti 95 orang yang terdiri atas dosen FMIPA, dosen Jurusan PKn FIS, dan sekolah mitra yaitu SMP N 8, SMP Muhamadiyah 3, MTs N 1 Semarang, dan MAN 1 Salatiga. Adapun narasumber utama Drs Sukirman MPd.

“ Setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini diharapkan peserta mampu membangun komunitas belajar guru sehingga dapat membangun budaya saling belajar, saling koreksi, saling menghargai, saling bantu, dan saling menahan ego,” kata dosen FMIPA tersebut.
