Puisi dapat diumpamakan sebagai duta perasaan dan pikiran penyair. Lewat puisi yang ditulis, penyair selalu berusaha agar apa yang ada dalam perasaan dan pikiran dapat terwakili. Dalam pengajaran di sekolah, siswa dapat menjadi duta perasaan dan pikiran jika guru memberi kesempatan kepada siswa untuk mendengar atau membaca serta terjun ke dalam puisi yang diminatinya.

Guna mempermudah penyampaian guru kepada siswa,, aspek ekspresi sastra yang mencakup beberapa subaspek dipadatkan menjadi tiga kompetensi, yaitu apresiasi puisi, membaca puisi, dan menulis puisi. “Dalam pelaksanaannya, ekspresi puisi (membaca dan menulis) harus didahului oleh apresiasi,” kata dosen Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Drs. Mukh Doyin M.Si. saat mengikuti ujian promosi doktor pendidikan program studi Ilmu Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Rabu 4 Januari 2016 di kampus Bendan Ngisor Unnes.

Dosen Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia ini berhasil mempertahankan disertasi “Materi Ajar Puisi dalam Buku Pelajaran SD, Kajian dan Perkembangannya” dibawah bimbingan promotor Prof. Dr. Suminto A. Sayuti, kopromotor Prof. Dr. S. Dandan Supratman, M.Pd., dan anggota promotor Prof. Dr. Teguh Supriyanto, M.Hum.

Menurut Doyin, sampai saat ini masih banyak orang yang menganggap pengajaran sastra belum sesuai yang diharapkan. Banyak pihak yang menyudutkan guru sebagai penyebab kekurangberhasilan pengajaran sastra, dalam hal ini puisi. Padahal, banyak faktor yang penyebabnya mulai dari perkembangan sastra itu sendiri, lingkungan, model pengajaran, model penilaian, kompetensi guru, materi ajar, buku pelajaran hingga kurikulum. “Untuk itulah saya mencoba melakukan kajian terhadap salah satu faktor penyebab yaitu materi ajar yang tedapat dalam buku pelajaran di SD guna mencari solusi atas kondisi tesebut,” paparnya.

Dalam temuannya, Doyin menggolongkan materi ajar puisi di buku pelajaran SD terbitan Pusat Perbukuan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional ke dalam dua kelompok, yaitu puisi yang layak diajarkan dan puisi yang tidak layak diajarkan. Kelayakan dan ketidaklayakan tesebut dilihat dari tiga unsur puisi, yaitu tipografi, bahasa, dan isi. “Maka saya mengembangkan materi ajar puisi yang dilakukan dengan tiga cara, penciptaan, pengalihwahanaanm dan penerjemahan,” jelasnya.

Hasilnya, setelah diterapkan teknik pengembangan materi ajar puisi, rata-rata dari 24 orang anak yang mendapat nilai 66, 63 naik menjadi 74,93. Kriteria puisi ini sesuai dengan harapan para guru dan ahli sehingga dapat dijadikan rambu-rambu yang jelas bagi guru dalam menyediakan materi ajar puisi.

“Untuk itu, guru disarankan untuk mengembangkan materi ajar puisi secara mandiri, baik melalui penciptaan, pengalihbahasaan, maupun pengalihwahanaan guna meningkatkan minat siswa pada puisi,” sarannya.
