Dosen dan kepala biro keuangan Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan PGRI Pacitan, Agustina Sri Hafidah, S.Pd., M.Pd.B.I., mengikuti ujian promosi doktor program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, kemarin, Rabu 28 September 2016 di kampus Bendan Ngisor Program Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Semarang (PPs Unnes).

Di bawah bimbingan promotor Prof. H. Mursid Saleh, M.A., Ph.D., kopromotor Prof. Dr. H. Joko Nurkamto, M.Pd., dan anggota promotor Prof. H. Retmono, M.A., PhD., ia menulis disertasi berjudul “Developing the Lift and Shift Game to Introduce English Aimple Tenses to Young Leaners”.

Penelitian ini dimulai dari beberapa informasi. Ada beberapa siswa di sejumlah sekolah dasar terutama di pedesaan yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengindentifikasi struktur kata, bahkan pada model yang sederhana. “Ini membuat saya tertarik untuk menemukan atau membuat teknik baru dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris, apalagi memperkenalkan tenses yang merupakan salah satu dasar belajar bahasa Inggris,” kata perempuan kelahiran 34 tahun silam itu.

Menurut Agustina, guru bahasa Inggris membutuhkan teknik baru yang menarik untuk mengajar terutama dalam memperkenalkan tenses bahasa Inggris sederhana sehingga siswa bisa menghafal dengan baik. Maka, ia pun membuat permainan lift and shift yang akan digunakan untuk mengajarkan tenses bahasa Inggris dengan mudah.

Hasil menunjukkan, sebagian besar siswa mendapat skor tinggi, yakni sembilan siswa mendapat skor 77,78 . Ini sangat berbeda dengan tes pertama dan kedua sebelum diajar menggunakan teknik ini, yang mana modus lebih rendah dari rata-rata.”Produk penelitian ini efektif untuk diterapkan dalam proses belajar guna meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam mengajar bentuk kata sederhana bahasa Inggris,” katanya.

Selanjutnya ia berharap agar guru bahasa Inggris SD perlu memberikan perhatian kepada siswa dalam proses belajar mengajar. “Guru harus memahami bahwa siswa perlu teknik menyenangkan dalam belajar guna meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa,” ungkapnya.
