Guru besar Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Prof. Dr. Sugiyono, MPd., menyampaikan analisa dalam pelatihan metode penelitian pengembangan dan analisis data, di Kampus Bendan Ngisor Program Pascasarjana (PPs) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Selasa, 3 Mei 2016.

Wakil Direktur bidang Akademik dan Mahasiswa, Prof. rer.nat. Wahyu Hardyanto, M.Si., Ph.D mengemukakan bahwa saat ini terdapat kesenjangan antara penelitian yang dilakukan perguruan tinggi dengan keinginan masyarakat terhadap hasil riset. Kampus, umumnya, masih berorientasi pada penelitian dasar untuk mengembangkan konsep atau teori. Sedang rakyat, membutuhkan hasil-hasil penelitian yang berdaya guna. ”Jenis penelitian research and development (R & D) menjadi jawaban yang tepat untuk mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut. Penelitian ini berupa pengembangan produk bukan lagi riset untuk menemukan teori,’’ terangnya disela-sela Pelatihan Metode Penelitian Pengembangan (R & D) dan Analisis Data.

Acara tersebut menghadirkan pembicara Dr I Made Sudana (Unnes), Prof Dr Sugiyono (UNY) dan Dr Endang Mulyatiningsih, (UNY). Pelatihan ini,akan menjadi wahana meningkatkan kemampuan peserta dalam metode penelitian pengembangan dan penyusunan berbagai instrumen riset. Peserta datang dari kalangan dosen,mahasiswa S2 dan S3 di Jawa Tengah/ DIY.

Prof Sugiyono memaparkan penelitian R&D, menggunakan pola untuk menghasilkan, mengembangkan, dan menguji produk yang telah ada. Terdapat empat level yang berbeda pada riset ini. Pertama, meneliti dan menghasilkan rancangan, tetapi tidak menghasilkan produk dan mengujinya. Kedua, tanpa meneliti, hanya menguji produk yang telah ada. Ketiga, meneliti dan mengembangkan produk yang telah ada. Keempat, meneliti dan menciptakan produk baru.

Sampai pada tahap ini Sugiyono mengingatkan kaitannya dengan karya ilmiah mahasiswa. Yakni sehubungan penulisan skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi. Skripsi levelnya mengamalkan pengetahuan melalui penalaran ilmiah. Tesis levelnya menerapkan dan mengembangkan Iptek melalui penalaran dan penelitian ilmiah. Sedangkan disertasi levelnya menemukan dan menciptakan Iptek melalui penalaran dan penelitian ilmiah. ”Maka kemudian S3 dinamakan ujian promosi karena mempromosikan suatu temuan atau produk,’’ katanya.

Endang Mulyatiningsih mengakui penelitian dan pengembangan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk. Dalam dunia pendidikan, produk pendidikan yang sering dikembangkan adalah model, media, buku ajar, dan perangkat pembelajaran lainnya. Berdasarkan kajian literatur terdapat banyak model yang dapat diterapkan untuk mengembangkan produk pendidikan. ”Riset dan pengembangan merupakan jenis penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk baru. Dalam dunia pendidikan, produk yang dihasilkan berupa kebijakan, pembelajaran, teknologi terapan, peralatan laboratorium, kurikulum, modul, hingga alat evaluasi,’’ucapnya. (Shabrina)
