Mulanya Fatkuroji menemukan permasalahan pada pemasaran jasa pendidikan di madrasah tsanawiyah (MTs) swasta. Dari situlah sarjana agama dan magister pendidikan ini menulis disertasi “Pengembangan Model Manajemen Pemasaran Berbasis Layanan Pendidikan Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Kota Semarang”.

Disertasi itu ia pertahankan pada sidang terbuka ujian doktor di Program Pascasarjana (PPs) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Senin 29 Februari 2016, dengan hasil sangat memuaskan. Promotor yang terdiri atas Prof. Dr. Joko Widodo., M.Pd., Prof. Dr. Tri Joko Raharjo., M.Pd., dan Dr. Wahyono, MM. memberikan pujian kepada promovendus.

Fatkuroji mengemukakan, MTs termasuk ketinggalan dalam pemasaran layanan jasa. MTs dianggap sebagai tempat pembuangan anak-anak tak berprestasi, bahkan menjadi sekolah pilihan alternatif setelah pilihan utama tidak diterima. “Perlu ada strategi pemasaran jasa pendidikan guna memenangi kompetisi antarsekolah guna meningkatkan kualitas dan profesionalisme manajemen sekolah,” paparnya.

Berdasarkan hasil uji kelayakan oleh validator, model pemasaran berbasis layanan pendidikan (MPBLP) layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan layanan pendidikan yang lebih baik shingga direkomendasikan untuk diimplementasikan di semua MTs swasta.

Dikemukakan pula, respons madrasah yang tinggi terhadap MPBLP mengimplikasikan perlunya pengembangan model ini dalam spektrum yang lebih luas.

Sebagai promotor, Prof. Joko Widodo mengatakan, Fatkuroji adalah segelintir orang yang menguak pemasaran di MTs. “Saya mencatat penelitian ini adalah isu sangat strategis dalam dunia pendidikan,” ungkapnya.

Dr. Wahyono sebagai anggota promotor turut mengakui ketekunan, kerajinan, dan kesabaran Fatkhuroji dalam menyelesaikan disertasi. “Walaupun bukan orang ekonomi, beliau tetap berusaha mempelajari dan mendalaminya,” pujinya.

Fatkuroji tercatat sebagai lulusan doktor ke-209 di PPs Unnes dan doktor ke-145 pada Program Studi Manajemen Pendidikan. (Shabrina Alania)
