Government makes serious attempts to improve education quality in Indonesia. One of the attempts is improving teachers’ skill in teaching the material so that they could develop professionally. Therefore, in-house training in the form of technical guidance is chosen as one of the attempts to assist teachers.  This guidance will create positive environment by sharing and transfering classroom teaching experience among participants and allowing them to discuss and brainstorm with presenters in order to understand a concept and solve the problems faced in the classroom.

Ideally, the teacher professional competence shall be improved to all subject matter teachers. However because bahasa Indonesia, English, and mathematics for Vocational School and bahasa Indonesia, English, mathematics, physics, and chemistry for Senior High School become the major subjects in national examination, thus teachers with the aforementioned subject matters shall become the priority.

In 2012 Unnes driven by Postgraduate Program in collaboration with Directorate of Development of Teachers and Education Personnel (P2TK) Directorate General of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Culture is participating in solving education problems especially in teacher professional development through technical guidance to teachers whose subject matters are tested in the national examination. 405 teachers were participated in the technical guidance. They were divided into two batches, first batch started on 11 May 2012 to 14 May 2012; meanwhile the second batch started on 7 to 10 June 2012.

With experienced instructors in Unnes and good cooperation among participants, the program is expected to run well so that the goal would be achieved.
