UNNES, through its Conservation Sub-Directorate, in collaboration with PT PLN (Persero) and PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang, has carried out tree planting activities at two different locations to commemorate Hari Menanam Pohon Indonesia (HMPI) 2025. The activities, held at Tapak Mangrove Forest, Tugurejo, and Tirang Island, successfully planted 10,000 mangrove seedlings as a joint commitment to preserving the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. This effort is not only a symbol of collaboration between universities, state-owned enterprises, and the community, but also illustrates concrete steps to strengthen the resilience of coastal areas against abrasion, seawater intrusion, and environmental degradation, which are important issues in sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The planting of mangroves is closely related to various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) through increased carbon sequestration, SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by preserving coastal biota habitats, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through the rehabilitation of critical areas and biodiversity conservation. In addition, this activity also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as it emphasizes the importance of multi-stakeholder synergy in protecting the environment.
