The majority of this waste comes from leaf litter, which averages about 12 tons per day. The organic waste processing at UNNES is divided into downcycling and upcycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total waste generated at UNNES reaches <strong>4,586.576 tons<\/strong> per year, which includes leaf waste, food waste, and others. Leaf litter waste at UNNES totals <strong>4,547.6 tons<\/strong> and is processed or upcycled to have high economic value and utility. The results of processing leaf litter are transformed into compost. The produced compost is reused for tree planting activities within the UNNES environment, distributed to residents around the UNNES campus, and a significant portion of the compost is sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food waste at UNNES amounts to <strong>14.976 tons<\/strong>, and this waste is processed and used as feed for maggot production. Overall, UNNES faces a shortage of food waste. Therefore, additional food waste from the surrounding community is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other waste at UNNES totals <strong>24 tons<\/strong> per year, with the majority being tree branches or wood that cannot be converted into compost.
