This commitment is reflected in several large-scale programs that integrate reforestation, coastal rehabilitation, and community-based green economy development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"579\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73-1024x579.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73-1024x579.png 1024w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73-768x435.png 768w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73-1536x869.png 1536w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-73.png 1594w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In partnership with <strong>Djarum Foundation<\/strong>, UNNES launched a <strong>mass tree-planting program<\/strong> involving <strong>3,500 new students<\/strong> from nine faculties. Together, they planted 3,500 trees\u2014including avocado, mango, rambutan, petai, and durian varieties\u2014across strategic areas in Gunungpati, Semarang. The initiative also included <strong>environmental education workshops<\/strong> to raise awareness about sustainability and conservation. This collaboration aims to improve air quality, maintain biodiversity, and promote long-term ecosystem stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNNES also partnered with <strong>Djarum Foundation<\/strong>, <strong>Sari Roti<\/strong>, and the <strong>Central Java Provincial Government<\/strong> in the <strong>Mangrove Replant 11 program<\/strong> at Mangunharjo Beach, Semarang. The program, involving <strong>150 students<\/strong> from multiple universities, focused on mangrove planting and maintenance training to prevent coastal erosion and enhance community resilience against rising sea levels. The activity aligns with UNNES\u2019s vision as a <strong>Conservation University<\/strong>, emphasizing youth participation in combating climate impacts and protecting coastal ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"567\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-75-1024x567.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-75-1024x567.png 1024w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-75-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-75-768x425.png 768w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-75.png 1470w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In another climate adaptation initiative, UNNES collaborated with the <strong>Akar Banir NGO<\/strong> and the <strong>community of Ngesrepbalong Village<\/strong>, Kendal Regency, to develop a <strong>green economy-based avocado reforestation program<\/strong>. The project addressed landslide risks by planting deep-rooted trees such as avocados to stabilize soil and retain groundwater. Activities included socialization, training, mentoring, technology application, and the establishment of the <strong>\u201cGunung Berkah\u201d avocado farmer group<\/strong>. Through this program, over <strong>300 avocado seedlings<\/strong> were propagated, and <strong>15 mature trees<\/strong> were top-worked using superior varieties like Diane avocado. The project enhanced farmers\u2019 skills, enthusiasm, and environmental awareness, creating a sustainable agroforestry model that combines <strong>climate adaptation and economic empowerment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These collaborations demonstrate UNNES\u2019s leadership in building synergies between academia, government, and NGOs to implement <strong>nature-based climate adaptation solutions<\/strong>.
