{"id":5050,"date":"2024-11-05T11:56:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T04:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/?p=5050"},"modified":"2025-11-07T12:09:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T05:09:33","slug":"unnes-champions-sustainable-fisheries-and-tackles-overfishing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/unnes-champions-sustainable-fisheries-and-tackles-overfishing\/","title":{"rendered":"UNNES Champions Sustainable Fisheries and Tackles Overfishing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), renowned as a Conservation University, is intensifying its efforts to combat\u00a0<strong>overfishing, illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and destructive practices<\/strong>\u00a0through a series of targeted programs that blend education, technology, and community empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/konservasi\/id\/upt-pengembangan-konservasi\/https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/konservasi\/id\/upt-pengembangan-konservasi\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/konservasi\/id\/upt-pengembangan-konservasi\/https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/konservasi\/id\/upt-pengembangan-konservasi\/\"><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">UNNES\u2019s\u00a0Conservation Subdirectorate<\/mark><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>leads capacity-building initiatives for fisheries stakeholders, equipping them with knowledge and tools for responsible resource management. In Semarang\u2019s coastal areas (Mangkang, Tugu, and Tapak) fishermen have participated in\u00a0quota-based fishing training, designed to promote sustainable catch limits and safeguard marine biodiversity. The university\u2019s research team developed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/tim-pengabdian-dsih-unnes-ciptakan-smarcos-teknologi-berbasis-web-iot-untuk-perikanan\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/tim-pengabdian-dsih-unnes-ciptakan-smarcos-teknologi-berbasis-web-iot-untuk-perikanan\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">the\u00a0SMARCOS Program,<\/mark> <\/a><\/strong>a web-based IoT system implemented at the Semarang fish hatchery center. SMARCOS enables real-time monitoring of fish seed health and distribution, ensuring aquaculture practices remain efficient and environmentally responsible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"417\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-37.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5052\" style=\"width:586px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-37.png 740w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/image-37-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond technical training, UNNES integrates\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kompasiana.com\/ppkormawaukmriptek\/64e5d4d608a8b579bf4035b2\/ppk-ormawa-ukm-riptek-adakan-sosialisasi-bersama-dinas-kelautan-dan-perikanan-jawa-tengah\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kompasiana.com\/ppkormawaukmriptek\/64e5d4d608a8b579bf4035b2\/ppk-ormawa-ukm-riptek-adakan-sosialisasi-bersama-dinas-kelautan-dan-perikanan-jawa-tengah\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">conservation education<\/mark><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>into its curriculum and outreach, engaging students and communities in awareness campaigns about aquatic ecosystem threats.
