Semarang, August 21st \u2014 Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has officially established the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) <\/mark><\/strong><\/a>Committee as part of its ongoing commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and respectful academic environment. The committee operates under the coordination of the UNNES Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center and reports directly to the university leadership, ensuring strategic oversight and alignment with institutional priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EDI Committee is mandated to advise on and implement university-wide policies, programs, and training initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights. Through this structure, the committee ensures that diversity principles are embedded across all academic and administrative functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough the EDI Committee, UNNES reaffirms its dedication to creating an academic community that celebrates diversity, promotes fairness, and safeguards the rights of all individuals,\u201d said the UNNES Rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The establishment of the EDI Committee builds upon UNNES\u2019s consistent efforts to promote gender equality and social inclusion. Recently, UNNES collaborated with <\/mark><\/strong>Solidaritas Perempuan Flobamoratas in a joint research initiative examining the cultural practice of belis<\/mark> <\/strong><\/a>(bride price) in East Nusa Tenggara. The study aims to advocate for women\u2019s empowerment and contribute to reducing gender-based violence through culturally sensitive dialogue and community education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, through its recurring public forum \u201cSarasehan Selasa Legen\u201d,<\/a><\/mark><\/strong> UNNES has provided a platform for academics, students, and community leaders to engage in open discussions on gender equality and sustainable social development. The event has become a hallmark of UNNES\u2019s commitment to bridging academic research with real-world social transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
