This initiative is regulated under Rector Regulation No. 109 of 2024 on Water Management, which serves as a strategic framework for conserving water resources and reducing environmental impact within the campus.

The regulation outlines three major programs:

(1) rainwater harvesting implemented across all faculties and work units to collect and utilize rainfall effectively;

(2) ablution water recycling applied in every campus mosque to reuse water from worship activities; and

(3) wastewater recycling used for irrigation of gardens and maintenance of ponds in faculties equipped with wastewater treatment facilities.

Through this integrated approach, UNNES not only minimizes water consumption and dependency on external sources but also strengthens its role as a model of sustainable water governance.
