This initiative covers all areas of the university, including the campus forest, green open spaces, and road corridors, forming an integrated green system that supports both conservation and aesthetic functions.
UNNES carefully selects plant species that are adaptive to local climatic conditions and require minimal watering. The main species planted across the campus include mango (Mangifera indica), mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), tabebuia (Tabebuia chrysotricha), tamarind (Tamarindus indica), and acacia (Acacia auriculiformis). These drought-resistant trees not only reduce irrigation needs but also improve air quality, enhance shade, and contribute to the university’s biodiversity.
Through this sustainable landscaping approach, UNNES demonstrates how responsible water management can be harmonized with green infrastructure, reinforcing its identity as a Conservation University that promotes balance between human activity and the natural environment.

As part of its strong commitment to environmental sustainability, UNNES has implemented a campus-wide landscape management program designed to minimize water consumption while maintaining ecological harmony.
