Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has a strong and continuous commitment to outreach education and community development for the wider public, including local residents, alumni, and displaced or migrant communities. This commitment aligns with UNNES\u2019s vision as a \u201cConservation University with International Reputation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GIAT Internasional 2024: Expanding Global Engagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, UNNES expanded its global outreach through the GIAT Internasional 2024<\/mark><\/a><\/strong> program, which enables students to apply academic knowledge in international community settings. Through this initiative, UNNES sent student teams to Hulu Langat, Malaysia<\/strong>, to conduct educational and cultural programs in partnership with local schools and community organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activities included teaching assistance, literacy promotion, cultural exchange, and environmental education. These engagements allowed students to practice educational innovation, foster cross-cultural understanding, and share Indonesia\u2019s conservation and sustainability values abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managed by the Office of International Affairs (Kantor Urusan Internasional)<\/strong>, GIAT Internasional strengthens UNNES\u2019s international partnerships and prepares students to be globally competent, socially responsible, and environmentally aware. This program also supports UNNES\u2019s broader mission to ensure that academic learning directly benefits communities both within and beyond Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Development for Migrant and Displaced Groups<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

UNNES also conducts community outreach focused on migrant and displaced communities<\/strong>. The Faculty of Law UNNES<\/strong>, in collaboration with The Institute for Migrant Rights<\/strong>, <\/mark><\/a>organizes seminars, legal literacy programs, and human-rights education activities addressing issues faced by migrant workers and asylum seekers in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commitment to Inclusive and Sustainable Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has extensive outreach educational activities for the wider community, including alumni, local residents, and displaced people. Through its flagship Community Service Program (KKN), more than 3,000 students annually serve in over 80 villages, promoting literacy, environmental conservation, renewable energy, entrepreneurship, and public health. UNNES also runs lifelong learning programs and online courses that benefit over 1,000 marginalized individuals. In 2024, over 500 alumni joined outreach workshops and mentorship programs, while partnerships with 20+ NGOs and local governments reached 15,000 residents, strengthening education, health, and community resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through both local and international outreach, UNNES ensures that education extends beyond the classroom\u2014empowering communities, supporting vulnerable groups, and promoting sustainable development.
