Processed water from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and ablution facilities is repurposed for irrigation and maintenance of green open spaces, while rainwater harvesting and biopore systems are employed to improve groundwater infiltration and storage capacity.

Each university unit is required to optimize alternative water sources, install water meters to monitor consumption efficiency, and maintain green infrastructure to ensure sustainable water reuse cycles. The system integrates automated watering, filtration, and distribution technologies through campus-wide pipelines, ensuring that water from diverse sources is efficiently conserved, treated, and reused.

This policy underscores UNNES’s identity as a Conservation University and reinforces its vision of becoming a sustainable, carbon-neutral campus.
