This standard is implemented through a combination of efficient water appliances, recycling systems, treated water utilization, and ICT-based monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 61% of campus water fixtures consist of low-flow and sensor-based devices, including automatic taps and dual-flush toilets, significantly reducing unnecessary water discharge. In parallel, water recycling programs are implemented across 24 facilities (88% of planned locations), covering laboratory wastewater treatment, rainwater harvesting, and ablution water recycling in mosques. Recycled water is reused for irrigation, sanitation, and other non-potable purposes, minimizing reliance on municipal water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 80% of the total water consumed at UNNES is treated water, processed through ozonation and filtration systems to meet health and hygiene standards. This is supported by smart water meters and real-time monitoring software, which continuously track water flow, detect inefficiencies, and provide data analytics for precise water-saving management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through these coordinated measures, UNNES establishes a robust minimum water usage framework that optimizes every stage of the water cycle\u2014from consumption to reuse\u2014ensuring efficiency, environmental responsibility, and alignment with its identity as a conservation-based and sustainable university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative directly supports the achievement of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through the integration of smart technology and sustainable water management practices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) applies a comprehensive minimum water use standard as part of its integrated conservation policy to ensure sustainable resource management.
