In 2024, the collaboration between the Semarang City Government and Semarang State University (UNNES) has entered the implementation phase of the reservoir (embung) construction project in the Gunungpati area. This initiative follows the memorandum of understanding signed in 2019, marking a shared commitment to promoting sustainable water resource management in the upper Semarang region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reservoir is designed with dual functions: to collect rainwater and control runoff from the hilly areas to prevent flooding during the rainy season, and to provide water reserves for local communities during the dry season. In addition, the site will be developed as a pilot for micro-hydro electricity technology, aligning with UNNES\u2019s vision as a conservation-based and renewable energy-oriented university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the 2024 implementation phase, key activities include preparing the detailed engineering design (DED), land preparation by UNNES, and cross-agency technical coordination to ensure the project runs according to sustainability principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
