The initiative operates through a decentralized system: each <strong>faculty and institutional unit distributes about 200 meal portions<\/strong> every Friday to ensure even coverage across all departments and dormitories. Meals are distributed directly at canteens, student centers, and public study spaces to reach students most in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than just a food aid project, <em>Jumat Berkah<\/em> is a <strong>comprehensive nutrition-support initiative<\/strong> designed to promote student well-being and prevent hunger-related academic decline. The meals provided are planned to meet basic dietary standards \u2014 containing balanced portions of carbohydrates, proteins, vegetables, and fruits \u2014 in line with the World Health Organization\u2019s recommendations for youth nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/sdgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/04\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-03-10-at-2.48.55-PM-Humas-FT-scaled-e1745823058470.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, <strong>Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Akt.<\/strong>, emphasized that the program reflects UNNES\u2019s vision as a <em>Conservation University<\/em> that integrates compassion, education, and sustainability:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cJumat Berkah is more than just sharing food; it is about building empathy, solidarity, and ensuring that no student studies on an empty stomach. This initiative reflects our collective effort to eliminate hunger and malnutrition within the university community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond meal distribution, the program also educates students on <strong>healthy eating habits and food waste reduction<\/strong>, contributing to a broader culture of sustainability. The activities are regularly supported by student volunteers who participate in meal preparation and distribution, transforming the initiative into a form of practical character education that nurtures social awareness and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Jumat Berkah<\/em> program complements UNNES\u2019s broader welfare system, including <strong>affordable campus canteens<\/strong> (providing nutritious meals for about IDR 10,000 per portion) and <strong>dormitory kitchens<\/strong> that allow shared meal preparation. These efforts directly address hunger and malnutrition, foster social empathy, and demonstrate UNNES\u2019s strong role in achieving food security and well-being for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sustained action directly contributes to the <strong>SDG 2 target of ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture<\/strong>.
